Hey i was just wondering what kind of encryptin program everyone uses when they are downloading torrents... How would i get my hands on some of the software and is it easy to set up...lol... I have been downloading a few things without one of these programs and was wondering if it is completly necessary to have so lawsuits arent opend against me... or am i ok? lol... Im a very cautious person and was looking for some help/advise here.

1) Always use private trackers. They aren't watched as much by anti-piracy agencies as The Pirate Bay, Mininova, etc are(ISPs will 'contact' you more if you download torrents from public trackers. ).

2) If you use uTorrent, go to Options->BitTorrent, and under Protocol Encryption, Force outgoing encryption, and uncheck the "allow incoming legacy conenctions"

3) Use PeerGuardian to block giant lists of known 'bad' IPs from seeing your computer.

4) If you REALLY want to be safe, you can use a VPN service such as Torrent Freedom.. They mask your IP address and encrypt transfers between you and the VPN, so it's virtually impossible to be caught. It costs as low as $11.58/month though.

ok... i have utorrent and i did what you said in number 2 and downloaded 3 and have that all set up... How long have you been downloading? lol

Do you leave peer guardian running all the time, or do you just use it before you go to download a torrent?

I've been downloading torrents for about..umm...since around September 27th 2006. I've only been 'caught' twice. The first time was soon before Sep 27th '06, cause I was getting a game that came out around then, and again this December because I got something from The Pirate Bay (stupid).

I turn on PeerGuardian right before I tell Firefox to open a torrent with uTorrent.

1. I can't get peer guardian to work on 64 bit vista...even with those steps they told me to do....
2. What exactly is a private tracker/how does one find this mythical beasts

1) I'll find the guide I used for you Elite, and anyone else with 64-bit vista
2) A Private Tracker is just a tracker you need registration for. One you can easily get to is demonoid.
