Like it says, I got an 8800gt ordered today.  So I should have it, as well as my regular computer up and running by the end of this week.

My main question to you guys is:  Does the core clock on the different 8800gt chips make a difference in game play?   I got the one that has a 670mhz core clock, which is on the higher side for XFX cards.  Besides a Leadtek at 680mhz and an EVGA at 720 ( but it cost way more) it seemed to be the best buy.

check it out, Company of Heroes is a plus and will be a new game for me to work on.

Has anyone noticed the third to last letter being D and H on some.  One reviewer said this indicated the variable fan speed on a D and a constant 100% fan speed on the H models.  Any pros or cons on either?  I got the variable fan speed one with a D as the third from last letter  :dontknow:

Either way, it will be a huge increase from my 7600gt  :-D

The fan speed can also be manually selected in the nvidia software.

I run two of those cards in SLi. Get ntune and crank to 100% or u'll burn that shit up. stock fan speed is only set to 29% and jumps to 70c+ during gaming.

or do as i did and get rivatuner and set it up so it turns the fan speed up via profiles.

And make sure you register on their website withing 30days or you only get 1 yr warranty and not the double lifetime.

thanx guys, i have riva tuner so i guess that'll be what i use...if it's at 29% now would 50% be efficient?  I don't want it at 100% all the time.

i have mine set to run at 40% at startup and during regular usage. When I load any games I have it bump up to 100% cause they run hot. COD4 and TF2 especially. CS:S there is about a 10c drop in max temp. I know I read around that ppl run it at like 60 or so, but i paid to much to take that chance and noise during gaming makes not difference to me. Also, when I run one card its a lot cooler. You will just have to monitor temps and decide what you think is safe. I uploaded a copy of EVEREST! Ultimate Edition to our ftp. You can pick it up and its very nice to watch temps. Even nicer if you have a g15 as you can watch temps on your keyboard while in full screen gaming.

Well, I only have one card opposed to your 2 in SLI.  But, after seeing your reasoning I think I'll run it at 100% when playing games.  I use headphones so I doubt I would be able to hear it anywayz.

Plus, I don't think I would be able to hear too much over my 3 120mm fans.:cool1:

Any 8800GT is going to kick the crap out of the 7600 and will be good regardless of it's clock....V.I.P., you made a great deal! (Well, except the XFX part LOL)

Yea, I'm glad it comes with company of heroes too.  Btw, my 7600gt is also an XFX...I haven't had any problems so I decided to go back with em.  What do you have against XFX?

With Evga you could have paid the same, and gotten a 1gb mem in it.  Don't know if thats better or not, but it seems to be.
