Now that Synergy is being offered through Steam, I was wondering if anyone was interested in playing through it.

I've tried playing the HL2 coop online, but it's just so hard to find a group of people that actually want to play.

It supports 32 players max, like other source servers, so there's no problem if more than 2 people want to play.

From what I can tell it's Half Life 2 multi player.

It's a Co-op mod for HL2.
You can play through HL2, ep1, and ep2 with other people, with automatic skipping between games.

There's other maps made for it to, like cooperative puzzles and stuff, or just ones with some kind of story built in.

Hmmm...sounds like fun, I might try it out. Actually, I was just looking at mods last night and was playing something called Zombie Panic to get my fix before L4D comes out.

I could probably do that...lets figure out a day to go through them and I'll download the mod tonight.

Just so you know, when you install the server, you have to extract all the hl2/ep1/ep2 files.

i had to copy it to my laptop when I tried to set up a server, and it took me almost two hours thanks to my low speed external hard drive.

You get them from C:\program files\steam\steamapps\
The names of the GCFs are there. Make sure you have gcfscape (http://nemesis.thewavelength.net/index.php?p=26) or you can't extract them.

For example, the first one "source engine.gcf"

You open that, right click the "hl2" folder, and extract it to C:\srcds\orangebox\   (or where ever you installed the server, but still in the orangebox directory). When you're done, you should have an hl2, episodic, and ep2 folders in the \orangebox\ directory along with srcds.exe and whatnot.

Until you do that, it won't work.

I thought the mod was built well enough to just click and go...this is way to much work.

It's not so much work. You just have to open some GCFs and extract a few things. It takes a few minutes if it's on a local machine.

If you don't want to do it, I'll work on getting my server visible on the browser, or ill see if someone can add it to their favorites.

I'll try to keep it up when I can. It fills up since people usually can't find a decent server to play in, so you can find some people to play with easily.

If we ever get a lot of people online, and I'm online, I'll lock it up and we can go in.

I'm not sure I'll be albe to play this. It needs all the other half life games installed as well. Which I don't have room for on the drive at this time. Sorry.

After playing through HL2 with a bunch of people, I think this game is just too buggy to play right now. We should wait until the first patch is released..
