COD 4 ?
«

I got it this evening. Pretty awesome game, multi kicks ass because they "borrowed" the unlock system from BF2. Kill more, move up in rank, special abilities and unlock new weapons. Played for four hours tonight and made SGT.
Another thing I liked is they got away from WWII and are using modern, post warsaw pact weapons. The player skins look pretty good too. In all, it was worth the $49...

i am ashamed to say that i purchased it for the xb360.
peer pressure and all that.
it is still jamazing and the unlock system is far superior to BF2 (since it doesn't take 7 weeks of my life).
if anyone else followed my path of shame, hit me up on XBL:

occasionally i'll do something cool

I finished the single player just a little bit ago.
I hate to say it because I thought COD 3 was weak, but this game kicks some serious ass! The depth of it is just mind boggling. Sure theres lots of run and gun, but a lot of other stuff too, almost like they put mini games inside one big one to break up the monotony. For most of the game one spends their time as a British SAS or US Marine/Spec-op doing various missions that are intertwined for a common cause.
Just when things seem like "well it's on to the next level of same 'ol"..One finds themselves inside a C-130 Specter gunship orbiting the field of operations helping the same unit that your player is a member of. What really rocks is you get to blow the hell outta the bad guys with the Spectre's onboard artillery by targeting enemies using a thermal image sight. Looking down amongst the buildings the enemies heat signatures show up on the scope. It looks very realistic too!
Another mission (my fave) finds the player in full ghillie crawling around Chernobyl Russia looking for various targets. And yet another sniper level puts you on top of a semi demolished apartment building in a vip assasination senario. After you blast the bad guys with the .50 cal Barret, one has to make their escape to the extraction area and fight off enemies while awaiting rescue.
I could go on for days about COD 4, but dont wish to spoil it. Most definitely the best game in the last two years, and well worth the money. The multiplayer aspect is pretty awesome too. Is it as fun as TF2? Guess that would be like comparing apples to orange boxes
However, imo COD 4 is the best PC game in the last two years hands down.

I am torn on buying this game or getting Unreal Tournament 3 when it comes out on the 19th. I might hold off on COD4 since I have never played any of the other versions of COD.
Since I am a newbie at COD does COD4 have a full multi-player?

Absolutely. If you ever played Battlefield 2, it's a lot like that.

CoD 4 has a lot more options than BF2 did, in both game types and customization. You can create up to 5 custom classes and save them, and each one has up to 3 perks you can choose. These are what really make the game interesting. Tired of getting scanned by the UAV and hunted down? Take a UAV jammer. Sick of always seeming one bullet short of a kill? Pick increased firearm damage. Want to get in that last bitch slap to an enemy before going to the reaper? Martyr allows you to drop a grenade when you die, and Last Stand lets you lay on the ground firing your pistol till someone waxes you for good. Playing a map thats based on speed and coordination? Hit up the increased sprint distance perk. The combinations are endless and suit every style of play, the only difference is that there are no vehicles. You can summon air strikes and helicopter support, but no tanks or jeeps to drive around in. All and all, i give it 5 stars and rate it as a must play.
BTW, my live name is The Plutonians if anyone wants to get a game in. Peace

I Just installed this on my comp yesterday, and I can't stop playing it. Its an amazing game, and its really fun. Have only been playing for a day 1/2 and already am 2nd LT. I
Thats not too bad for me, im used to being at the bottom of the scoring list in like css and DOD, but here, I find my self almost always in the top 3. A nice change for me. This game is kick ass, and I would recomend anyone who is thinking about getting it, to stop thinking, and get off their ass and get it. ITs great.
I was just wondering, I know you can make a shortcut to it in steam, but does your steam friends work with the game, and also if you have steam on another computer, can you download the game to that comp? JW. And this is if you did not buy the game from steam, instead just created a shortcut to it. Because steam does offer it, I just didn't buy it from them.
Thanks.

I didn't like the game a whole lot, but i hate all these modern warfare games, BF2 is about as advanced as i can go without thinking "this is fucking lame"
If you want an explanation, try GRAW2, it has an automatic aim feature that locks on to people, with a automatic rifle, Radar that tells you how many enemies are in a 50m radius, location and altitude. It's spoon feeding you. The multiplayer ain't too bad, so i may get it when i get a better pc just for that, but i won't rush out to advance my machine just yet.
