So im in the market for somethin new, i'd prefer to build it, and im just a wee bit money conscience as of right now, but what would ya'll reccommend that would kick ass and not cost me another year of debt...

I would think it wise to build up nothing other than a Athlon 64 for games...
I have a Athlon 3200+, Asus SLI motherboard , dual allison ram (1024) 250-G harddrive, and a ATI 9800-pro +...... The only thing that i have re-ordered from my supplier Is a new Athlon4200+dual core and 1800-graphics card... Not that the 9800 pro+ don`t cut it but it`s my 3-rd one i fried the others, thank god for extended warranty...... Always get extended warranty!!!!!!! See ya around!!!!

In all honesty, depending on what you plan on doing with your computer outside of DoD or CS, an 80 gig hard drive will do you just fine. I've got a 120 gig and I only have the bare minimums installed... AIM, MSN, IRC, Firefox, DoD and Photoshop, and I've got 96 gigs left over for music and such.
The parts that Ironbely posted up there should provide you with a substantial base to get your computer going. I've got an AMD 2800+ and it gets the job done so a 3000 would be plenty. Outside of those parts a gig of RAM from say Corsair or Kingston with either a Seagate or Maxtor 80gig hard drive or so and you've got yourself a good rig to game with.

around $700-800 should get you a quality computer that will be able to run DoD:S or CS:S just fine. I take it Widow there knows a good deal, so I'll let him lay out some ideas on the parts.

well i think i'll just upgrade, no point in completely ditching the case, birner and dvd.... i could go for a new motherboard, memory, graphics card, and i know i need another harddrive i've got 6gigs left on my 80gig...

MSI
I've seen computers build with MSI gear (which is good shit!) for less than $400
Excluding monitor, keys, mouse, and accessories like that.
