Planned Comp Upgrade Good/Bad ?

I am thinking about upgrading my computer i plan to wait about 3 months before upgrading because thats how long its going to take me to get the money for the upgrade approx 2,000. This will probably be my last computer inhancement for 2 - 4 years so this is why i am spending so much

Currently i have:

Asus P5800S MB Gig Lan/Audio/Raid Support/SATA|IDE/LGA775

P5 2.8Ghz, 2Mb cache, 800Mhz FSB

Maxtor 80 Gb Sata

Corsair1 Gb 2x512Mb DDR400

Nec Floppy (Always have a floppy)

ATI 9550 256Mb (Originally)

I am planning on setting up crossfire with the X1800 series when X1800 (512 MB) Crossfire Edition Card comes out

I was wondering if you guys could give me some feedback like does it sound like a good setup.
I would espeacially appreciate your experiences with AMD and whether crossfire is a good idea.
Plz give me your input it would be greatly appreciated.

MDK that is a nice looking system.  I always have like ati cards.  What chip set is the intel again? P5 is that the new 764 or something like that?

But i have to modify the old list remove some things and change some things to make it a little better

I would definitely get that BFG 7800GTX and the ASUS A8N SLi board.

Lots of people have that card now, and I haven't heard any issues with it.

i'd stick with a 7800..., go sli eventually

and i'd consider an opteron 165/170 as well, they should be in the 250 range in 3 months, and are both easily overclockable, with the stock fans

in 3 months, the a8n32-sli should be down to 175 range
or the  dfi lanparty ut nf4 sli-dr, if you want to go crazy with the overclocking

and i'd stay away from the thermaltake powersupply, i've had 3, two of them died 'prematurely'...fans went (silent power 400+s, with single 120mm fans)

Meh, i dont know alot about AMD but i do know a little about warranties and i do believe now correct me if i am wrong but overclocking voids the warranty. But even if i wanted too which i probably will the one listed overclocks quite well also.

Also going to invest in some Artic Silver. + $16.99

Assuming i used the same models, but they were new, for the Case, DVD DL R/W, and Floppy, added Xp Pro.

How much do u think i could get for it off ebay?

i never really found computer components to be less expensive on ebay.  heck, half the time i look they cost more than they do on newegg or zipzoomfly..

and yes, overclocking would technically 'void' your warranty.  i'm just not willing to shell out 400+ for a cpu that will be 200 in 6 months.

If going with nvidia, I would go with BFG vid Cards. They are the best I have seen so far, and they are also overclocked right out of the box and come with a lifetime warranty.

Also the best socket 939 board would be the A8N32-SLI. It is one of the true gaming boards right now, because when in SLI mode it has a true 16X pipeline to each vid slot compared to the 8x pipeline found in reqular SLI boards.
