what year did you buy the alienware lappy?  You might be able to upgrade that card to a 9800 pro m for like 200 bucks or so.  Might not be worth it though.

My borther has an AMD Athalon Processor... eh... 2400+ or something like that... the dood at the store said it was equvalent to a P4 2.5 ghz..... but i have noticed that he computer runs considerably slower than my miserable 2.4  Ghz P4..... any reason for this? is a P4 actually better than an Athalon?

amd athalon XP's are slower than the P4's.  The amd athalon 64's are much faster at many things, but not all.  They are not as good at floating point math.  just go search at tom's hardware guide, i'm sure they have some nice charts there.
