Okay so I saw this commercial for ionic breeze.  If you haven?t seen this dumb commercial go here:  Sharperimage.com and look up ionic breeze.  Any who, here is my question they say this can take smog and turn it into clear and pure air?!  If this device can do that, why don't they make a much bigger version of this and place it onto of a tall building and turn it on in smoggy cities.  Smog would give us clear air and we all would thank the ionic breeze... just a thought.

Or have them in the exhaust of our cars? or maybe have on in huddy's gaseous pants? ...because it makes too much sense, and would cost too much money and we're dumb americans.

its not so much that we americans are dumb.. its that we care too much about turning the profit.... the reason why we dont have better environmental care is because it would cost "too much" money for the big businesses to fix it... its the same reason why hybrids arent very popular.... cause Oil and Gas companies pay off the car dealerships to not produce them, or not hold them in thier lots... its all about the greenbacks my brothers and sisters...

exactly... like, seriously.... solar energy is the smartest thing ever.... but no one uses it.... A) granted it is a lil' expensive.... B) the big companies down play its superiority to make sure that they arent losing any money. C) they stop mass production once a few bills are slipped their way.. as much as i love free enterprise.. it is so corrupt and blind to the people.... i wanna create my own country!!

Who's with me!! I got Dibs on overlord!!

Darken, I have an ionic breeze.

It does work, but there are constraints.

1.  Unit must be in an enclosed area (it can't get all of the particles out of the air in one cycle.)
2.  Air must not be circulating too heavy.

The concept that the ionic breeze works on is a real phenomenon, and is , imho very interesting.  The inoic breeze was shown ineffective in consumer reports, but in my experience, with three pets, this is not the case.  You just have to remember to clean it every tow weeks and it works great.  I have allergy induce asthma, and it helped me considerably.  no more asthma.

For overall reduction of particulant in the air, a large high volume hepa filter is much better.  much more expensive and a pain in the ass.  They also have fans which equates to noise.

You couldn't use these things outside.  As it is, the earth uses ionic cleaning on it's own every time there's a thunderstorm.  lol.

As for the car thing, catalytic converters do work and are efficient at what they do.  DPF's are on their way (Diesel particluant filters) and are extremely efficeint.  Now as for coal burning power plants, just approve a nuke factory in you town, and they will reduce pollution.  You can encapulate the waste in high lead glass, and bury it in the mid ocean with no reprecussions.  by the time anyone would find it, it's half-life would be twice over.

Solar energy is great, but inefficient for mass consumption.  Out west there are many solar power plants, it is hard for them to keep up since the sun is not always out.  Friends of mine are working on a new technology using solar power to heat.   Using elliptical mirror (giant, massive arrays mind you), and directing the light to a collection station made up of an array of ceramic components (top secret!) that can heat up over 2000°C.  that heat is then used conventionally.  pretty cool, and only used in south america and europe right now.  its in its infancy.

I know this french guy living in germany that has his own solar power solar heat system and it works great.  Do any of you have that?  it is commerically available in the states.  You can even install it yourself.  His heating bill is basically zero.  His electric bill in the summer is basically zero.  the units needed cost over 80 G's.  And that's a bargain for the technology.

Hmm,

Well the ionic breeze won't work outside, is that the point.  So lets make a verion of the ionic breeze that shoots out lighting.. lets fix the ozone ourselfs..

We have the technology but don't want to use it...

The technology does not exisit, in that the method does not solve the problem.

Lighting does solve the ozone problem.

It fuses together many of the particles that make up the ozone..

wtf are you talking about?  it creates more ozone by spliting o2 and reforming it to o3--, but keep in mind very little of it.  Most ozone is naturally generated from UV radiation from the sun in the stratospere.  There is shields us from the UV radiation.

Ozone in the lower levels of the atmosphere is very bad.  It will kill you.  if you were to inhale ozone, at a high level...it would rip your lungs apart.  ozone is highly reactive.

science lesson over.

What are you talking about,

Ozone? Simply, oxygen, three atoms of nature's oxygen. It exists in a very active form for about 30 minutes before breaking down into two atoms of regular oxygen by giving up one atom of singlet oxygen.

Lightning, also possessing photochemical energy creates ozone as well

it does not posses photochemical energy.  there are no molecules in lightning.  It is pure eletrons - current.

The high potential created and the high current flow ionizes the surrounding air, which contains oxygen.  This means that the oxygen is split into it's ionic configuration, O--, which under the circumstance will form very little O3-- statistically under normal condidtion.  It will create more under the heat and pressure that accompanies the ionizing potential release you call lightning.  That "spring" clean smell after a thunderstorm is lighting.  It will change state quickly at STP, but not as fast in the ionsphere where there is more vacuuous condidtion.  Also, UV radiation is constatly creating more ozone.  The process mantains an equilibrium, and this layer of ozone protects you from getting melanoma.  It doesn't protect Huddy from AIDS though.  Nothing is capable of doing that.

What's next?  Let's talk about this rain sucks me bum.
