Hey, heres what im running

HP Pavilion zv5000 notebook
3.0 intel p4 cpu
ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 128mb GPU(built in im assuming)
896MB ram
80gig HD
Windows XP
running 1024 res(most consistant for my laptops screen)
Run dx 9 since it actually ran smoother than at 7, havnt tried 8 though

I just bought a new external HD and will be transfering all 13gigs  :-o of music to it.. hopefully that'll help after a reformat.. but the reg HL2 game still runs perfectly  :bs:

Just DLed latest drivers for my mobo and GPU also

Im running CS:S at all lowest settings at 1024 res(most consistant for my laptops screen), and im still getting very low average frame rates, im talking like 18-25 avg fps,  9-12 when i get into firefights or just even running around sometimes.   With a 128mb vid card i should be getting very decent fps settings, but for some reason im just not.. idk what it is  :dontknow:

anyone got any tips or even help me out with making a CFG file for tweaked settings?

Thanks

well its not how much ram your video card has but more how fast the gpu is on the card. I have a 6800gt (oc it myself) and run ar 1024 with full details/graphics and get 80 or so fps some maps 40-50 and others 120-160.

just google your video card and find the specs for it.

haha.. well.. my parents bought me a laptop for college.. i kept asking for a Desktop... at least to let them let me build one.. I got stuck with a laptop haha

still trying to save the $$ for a decent desktop... if only i wasnt swimming in college i could get a decent job

But anywho... I tried googling and yahooing graphic config tweaks for css... didnt really find anything usefull o_0

anyone edit their cfgs, or make an autoexec.cfg file that helps their fps?? i dont mind playing in polygons as long as i have a consistant fps above 22.. cuz i kill people at 22.. i still do at 15 but its a little harder  :cool1:

go to www.notebookforums.com

you can look up your specific model there.  the ati mobility 9000 is a slower video card, but the 128mb vram is a good thing.  you should be able to get decent framerates (thirty to 40's running dx9 with everything off (mat_specular 0 etc.) and 50-60's running dx7).  definitely down load the omega drivers for your card (oh, and it is a dedicated card right? not igp...) these will optimize you card driver settings for you.  The notebook forums will get you the most help on your specific lappy.  how long have you had this lap top?
