I like that idea too. Have you debated on resetting stats quarterly (as they group the stats on HLStatsX) rather than monthly? Just my personal opinion, but I feel like quarterly gives more time to really fight out some of the close ranks and get others who are trying to jump up the list some time to work at it. I know that probably mostly benefits those that have the same playing pattern as me (averaging 5-10 hours/week, on and off), but I feel like that's your biggest crowd (but correct me if I'm wrong).

I guess it depends on how many regulars you have and the frequency of how often those regulars are playing per week. If a majority are playing a ton, then monthly is probably better. Are there any kind of metrics you guys can pull on that kind of data (how many players play at different time intervals)? For example, how many play 1-2 hours/week, 2-5 hours, 5-10, 10-15, 15-25, and so on (on whatever intervals make sense).

The problem is those in the top 5 are usually playing so much that after a month it's next to impossible for them to be caught.

While I agree that the top 5 log a lot of hours, and thus get a lot of points, the skew in points based on the class you play can also affect your rank.

I'll never be able to catch Video as a sniper when I'm playing medic...

He gets 1 point per headshot, while I get 5 points per ubercharge.
Hmmm...I do get 4 points per kill assist as a medic, maybe I should just be healing him while building my ubercharge - the rest of the team is just going to have to find some med packs...
