Can we please bring back "rtv"?   Also, some of the admin commands don't work, e.g. "Map Vote" -- can change maps but can't ask for a vote on those; I presume it is somehow tied to rtv

thanks.

Video, I would also prefer rtv for one reason - rtv lets the players change the map as soon as a number of votes are reached.  Votemap leaves players stuck in a map they don't want to be in (Turbine and Hydro come to mind- even though I like them).

I agree with Haz-Mat, we need RTV in addition to votemap. Votemap is nice because you can set the following map, but let's face it, you get stuck on pipeline or hydro for a long drawn out match and it gets old, especially if one round is over. Having an instant map change RTV would be great, and it would help keep players around.

I think it is time to add more maps!  There has been a lot of complaining going on that there is a monotonous droan to the same maps over and over.  Yes, they bring in ppl, but it gets boring after a while.  We need to add one or two more selections to the rotation.  Also, is there a way to put a time limit on pipeline.  Several of us were playing the other night and the cart made it to the hill by the point, and just sat there....and made that horrible beeping noise...and went on and on.  It was insane.  If there is a way to put a limit on the time of this map, we need to do so, since we did have a lot of complaining about how long it took and some ppl even left before it was over with.

I agree - let's get some custom maps going on this puppy; if they turn out to be not so popular we can get rid of them pronto

Pipeline does have a timelimit.  We have had a timelimit on it since it came out.  It is set to 25 minutes.

As for custom maps our server has never done well with them so we are keeping them off.  We can put other regular maps on, but nobody on here ever agrees to what maps to have and they get tired of them very quickly.  Our server runs the most popular regular maps that are out there.

It's going to take time to hone the rotaion to the best it can be. As more maps become available (non custom) the battle will never really end. We just need to talk about it more here on the site and bitch about it less in vent.

With the popularity of the server theres no reason not to try a few custom maps again. We've already proven we can take this server from dead to popular in a weeks time so even if custom maps kill the server (doubtful with all our regs) we can easily self-correct. Lets give it a try.

I agree with Smurf that we have a very strong regular population that would come out and play regardless of the map. If we rotate in a few GOOD custom maps and perhaps some of the less played standard maps, just to give them a shot, it probably can't hurt anything. The regulars will stop come in, and once the server gets over like 12 people, it always gets near full for awhile.

Might I suggest we add a new server message to pop up encouraging people to come to the forums and make their own map suggestions and share their opinions about the current maps and ones we may add? We really need to encourage the regulars to participate more directly. If they feel like they have more say in the way the server is played, they will come back and bring friends. And we can gauge how the changes are going over in general.

I still feel we need a RTV. But these are all good ideas, IMHO.

RTV is easy to remember and is a good way to see what the population likes and dislikes. I don't see the problem with having it on. Unless of course it conflicts with some other plugin.
