turning off Vsync for your graphics card improves fps, but i'm sure you guys already knew that.

well when i turn my vsync off, my computer seems to run fine for about an hour with high fps (80-90) and thats when i pwn but then my computer starts to freeze up or lag some what after about an hour of good playing.  then when i turn my vsync back on my fps stays at 60 when im facing the wall but then when i see action (models/gunfire) it drops to like 20.  i want to just get a new pc but times are hard right now lol.

You need a new pc.  But in lieu of that, go to www.hltoolz.com and download their program.  They turn all the shit off or down that you can.  That will increase your fps but the game will look like Pong.  :)

Well, Mister NightTrain, if you read his post, he said he tried that already..

Its a cool program though, theres a command to turn the lighting to only one type of lighting (same as outside) so you can see into all the dark spots. its cool, it works, but hurts your eyes and is pretty gay when you throw a nade (the small area around the grenade explosion changed back to the color it was suppose to be with regular lighting until you restart cs again. it was pretty fugly!  :? )

I split this topic out of the announcement.  Just seemed like the right thing to do.  :)

If your PC is lagging and freezing up, it may have nothing to do with your FPS. Make sure you don't have any other stuff running in the backround that can lag out your pc, use up resources like spyware.

Or you may just need a new Comp.

I had a 5 year old Dell that only got me 40 or 50 fps, but it was stable at least. I've since upgraded.

what video card do you have?
What driver version do you have?
what version of DirectX do you have? (Well not real important since we use openGL, but sound is controled by directX)
What chipset on your motherboard do you have?
How much ram do you have?
What programs are starting when windows starts up??

All these things will effect your fps and detail for any game.

Give me some info and I will help out
