played with one card at a time today and tried to get it to work, nothing! this cards get awesome fps all on their own. idk maybe they are getting to hot in sli mode or something. Have to see when I get my new two duorbs for them. kinda puzzling as I was watching temps and they didn't' get high when it happened. only time it does it is in sli

Have you checked your other temps, like the chipset. I had the fan go on one of my boards that had a chipset fan and it cause similiar problems

well someone mentioned before the damage is probably done. They were right. These cards are getting progressively worse and I am now in talks with xfx support and most likely going to have to send them back for replacements. here are some more pics of what it is doing.

Yea i got myselft a copy of everest ultimate. Everything else is running at great temps. Just my vid cards where. Stock they are set to only run the fan at 29%. This turns out to be like 70c at idle and who the fuck knows under load. I bump them to 100 and can keep em at around 57c under load and 43c or so under idle. They have to be run at 100% tho and by default they are locked at 29%. That is my argument with xfx. They have it set up so they fail.

what are the average temps you guys get idle and under load on ur cpu?

Just started thinking i recently started getting a error at boot telling me to reset my cpu/memory clocks to default. I jsut press f1 and continue past it. This all started when I started having problems. Now this got me thinking. So i googled "q6600 temps" and turned up quite a few sites. Many ppl are saying they are running 30 - 40c idle. shit. mines like high 60s at idle. heres a pic a NO load and a desktop fan blowing directly my board.  I think its to hot and it may have to do with my issue. Maybe it was always running hot but with the extra temperatures that these two 8800gt's are bringing into my case is to much. comments?

I'm getting the same temps as Smurf..

And concerning xfx support -

Steve - 03/10/2008] When I power on, the fans turn 1/4 and the blue and yellow lights are on. This has been an intermitent problem till yesterday. Sometimes it will work and sometimes not. Usually if I leave it alone with the psu unplugged it will work in a couple hours. Now the fans spin 1/4 of a revolution and the lights come on like normal except thats it. No post or anything. I have trouble shooted my wiring and substituted a power switch from another case. Still nothing.

[BRIAN - 03/13/2008] Hi Steve, it sounds like something is shorting out your motherboard. For your cpu cooler, do you have a bracket that goes on the back of the board that secures it? If so, then take off that back bracket and leave the cpu cooler on the cpu and see if it will boot. If so, then that back bracket is shorting out the motherboard. Also, try each RAM stick individually in each slot to see if you have a faulty stick or slot. Also, take off the power switch and use a flathead screwdriver to complete the circuit for the power switch to turn on the system. If it turns on and stays on, then your power switch is faulty. You just have to touch the 2 pins that the power switch is connected to turn on the board. Let us know. thanks brian.

[Steve - 03/13/2008] I have tried all of that before I contacted tech support. In the three days I have awaited an answer, I purchased the EVGA version of this board and it works fine with the same cpu cooler, memory, psu - etc. I just swapped boards. I know that there was a bad batch of these boards that tiger direct sold. I`ve done my homework and talked to a few who have had the same problem. The boards are curved a bit and anything except a push-pin style cooler will cause the boards to flatten out the way they should of been to start with. When they flatten out, it can create shorts. Issue me an rma so we can stop wasting each others time. Thanks.

noobs....How does he expect my cpu cooler to stay mounted if I remove the mounting bracket? I told them I tried another power switch too...GRRR!!

Idle at 51 C, load around 62 C.

This is for my vid card...htought thats what you meant.

What are you using to get that? I want to check mine.

Nevermind, I found it. Core #0: 39 C Core #1: 42 C. It's only duo core but there shouldnt be to much difference in the quad I would think....maybe a few more degrees with the extra cores.

well according to the white papers that came with my cpu 63c and some change was the max it should EVER go. I got this bad boy today --->
http://www.ultraproducts.com/product_details.php?cPath=17&pPath=571&productID=571
and heres the results on my cpu

Thats a hell of difference. My new CPU fan comes with this nifty LCD 5.25" bay screen that displays the temp and it says my cpu is is at 25c.

I would think it would be more accurate but I do not really know. Now I gotta reinstall my duorbs for my vid cards and cut a hole in the top of my case for another 120mm fan and I HOPE TO GOD if fixes my issues.

What are you using for cooling? Thats a pretty low temp.

I started to get one of those thermal electric deals. I bet it's sweet!

I'm sure if you peeked into my case at the lan you saw that massive Thermaltake I had. For 50 bucks it dont seem to do too shabby...
