Some good choices. I'm not going to comment on the tower because that is usually a question of taste, but suggest getting as large a tower as possible to help promote cooling and any future upgrades.

The Mobo, I would read the reviews first. Personally I would go with the nforce 680 or 7 series (new) With that you have the ability to add a second 8800 and sli.

Memory: good choice, but double up to 4 gigs. Vista uses a gig just idling.

PSU: excellent choice! PCP&C is the shit. For a little more 1kw would be nice.

CPU: Go quad core for the same money and thank me later. Dont just look at the fact that the one you chose is 3ghz. It's only a dual core. Go with the quad and have the same smile on your face the rest of us do that have one. Yes, it's that good!

That EVGA is a great board!

Their vid cards are kick ass too. I would get one of theirs because they have a lifetime warranty and a trade up program.

True about vista 32, it sees like 3.4 mb but since ram is cheap, why not four one gig sticks? I'm sure that once sp1 is released, they may deal with the memory issue in vista 32. That gives you one gig per cpu core, It wont hurt to have the extra memory and even though it wont see it now, wont hurt it either. Course you could always go vista 64 and not have to worry about it.

Ponce, before you order I would ask myself a serious question: Do I need to spend $1700 to play video games? If you still live at parents or are semi dependent on your folks, the answer should be no...

I see where you're coming from, and thanks. The thing about me, whether it's a good thing or not, is that I hate skimping on quality. If I'm going to spend a couple hundred bucks on a mobo or a processor, I can't justify not spending an extra say, 50 bucks, to get the one that will last longer and out perform the other. And then of course it all adds up. The way I see it is if I'm already spending big money, why not go for broke (not literally). Like I said I have some money saved up, and I also have some extra money from scholarships as well, plus I work (nearly) full time. I figure I might as well spend my money on shit like this when I'm young and still living with the 'rents, because when I'm older I'll be more focused on bills, kids, IRA funds, ect.

the board has sli which allows you to link two cards as one well

i recommend this drive due to the fact it burns in dual layer it gives you lightscribe abilities so if you like to burn labels on your discs. but you dont have to use it.
