you both make good points, but shmotz, you can't really just say that they are most likely not going to do anything with their life.  but the war has been going on for a while.  think about how long sep.  11th was in the news.  it was on of the most tragic days, but it was in the news forever.  (not that that is a bad thing.) and also i can't tell you how many times they played the clip of the planes going into the building.  but the VAshooting will be like the war.  after a while, people will just brush it off as another event in history.  granted, our forces should get proper reconigtion, but you cant just really take it out, and compare it to the VA shooting.  like i feel safe in school, and feel like nothing would ever happen.  they are two very different situations and they can not really be compared.  and think about it.  they just started their life.  (yes there are many young people in the forces) but these kids are trying to makesomething of themselves.  I do agree with you that many people take what our forces overthere do for granted, and since im in JROTC i see it alot, and i do agree that there should be more news on the war, and good news at that.  But this is a very sensitive situation and they are very different and can not be compared.

Wow, Lax, i cannot believe how insensitive you are about the men and women risking their lives so that you can sit around and play your computer games and have the right to post somehign liek that.I mean, damn, over 1200 people killed, and you say they volunteer to do that. They volunteer to go fight to defend our country and to give other people the rights that we take for granted every day in this country. They dont go over there volunteering to die. And yes, this VA Tech incident is a tragedy, and will be remembered. I think that the coverage that this incident is gettign and is good, and im happy that people are having moments of silence to remember those 32 people killed, but I dont think there has been a moment of silence for anyone killed in Afganistan or Iraq (except maybe Pat Tilman, because hes famous). So with the moments of silence for the VA Tech victims, please also pray for the soldiers who have given their lives, adn the ones still fighting, to give you the freedoms that are taken for granted so often.

Who the fuck are you? If you werent an idiot yourself you'd understand i have no disrespect for the military. What i've said this whole time is you cant compare the situations. The US military is all volunteer. Anyone whos not an idiot knows they have a chance of getting in some trouble over there. College students dont head off to school thinking there gonna get shot up in class. Im not going to explain myself again because i've already said what i've had to. The media is going to pick up on the most recent story and follow it, its a gold mine for them. And as wrong as it couild be the US public is going to care more about recent events like the shooting then hearing the same thing about the war over seas. The only disrespectful statement i made was in response to shmotz's comment on college kids making nothing of there lives? Hell no. Its common sense that the MAJORITY of college students are going to have a higher average salary over there lifetime then enlisted soldiers. And from personal experience i know alot of guys that enlisted and then said fuck it and now work in garages or hardware stores. Theres a larger ratio of enlisted soldiers gettin out and gettin blue collar jobs then there are of college students. You need to get your head out of your ass and read every post on this topic before you come in here and post.....fag

Make sure you get your whole head in front of.....

A couple of things.....

1) The military men and women that protect us (yes you lax) get shit on. Its something that has always happened and I thank them for all of their sacrifices. They sacrifice more then the typical American could ever imagine. As Americans EVERYONE should be disgusted and ashamed with how the people who serve our country are treated. It needs to change period.

2) The Virginia Tech Massacre, Shooting, or whatever you call it is tragic no matter what way you look at it. It sucks. What it comes down too is failure to act accordingly to the events that transpired. There were obvious signs that could have prevented this. There were too many events that went overlooked and need to change. My heart is with everyone from VT.

3) Lax you need to grow up and chill the fuck out. Mr. Orange made a very relative post that was very nicely put. He was only simply stating that a fact unlike your "MAJORITY of college kids..." generality. Everyone in this clan feels terrible for what happened. No one is in here to take away the severity of what happened.

4) THIS THREAD NEEDS TO BE LOCKED FOR THERE ARE TOO MANY FLAMERS AND PEOPLE DON"T UNDERSTAND HOW TO TAKE A COMMENT.

If your going to post make sure that your GRAMMAR AND SPELLING IS CORRECT.

God bless the Families of US Military Men and Women, and Virginia Tech Students, and Staff.

half of you idiots still cant read this entire topic before you make a post. Snyper, get the fuck off my back, you dont have fuckin clue what im talkin about cause if you did im pretty sure you wouldnt have tried to single me out. I have in no way disrespected anyone in the service. I've stated exactly how shits goin down. Like i've said before and you idiots seem to not read, is the only thing i said disrespectful was regarding the enlisted guys who end up doing nothing with there life but goin home and workin handyman jobs. And even then i still respect em, 3 of my friends were army and now are bricklayers. And my point was the majority of college students end up makin more out of there career then those enlisted guys. AND that was in response to shmotz comment on college kids who end up not doin shit with there lives. And i think i've got a right to get a little fuckin pissed off. I make a topic to keep these students and families in your prayers and minds and people decide this needs to get turned into a shitshow between the military and college kids. This is fuckin ridiclous. If you wanna make a post about ANYTHING BESIDES THE VT ISSUES make a new one, dont come in here and disrespect my topic. Fuck all you morons. THIS is why im rarely around here anymore, because theres about 3 or 4 of you idiots who always take shit wrong, or just are too lazy to read the full topic. Something as little as
Quote
Everyone knows whats up, please keep everyone down there in ya'lls prayers. Senseless bullshit.. RIP Reema
gets turned into this bullshit bitching and moaning.  Whoever's moderating, could you please cleanup all this garbage in this topic? as far as im concered EVERY comment(mine included) from today should be deleted

I am an AirForce brat. I grew up on bases most of my life. I've learned alot of things.
If you join the military thinking of it as a job, you'll quit or leave. It's your life, no matter what happens,
or where you are sent, you do your duty 24/7, That's what it takes. It's not glamorous.
College is for people seeking cleaner, higher paid jobs for less work. The more you make the less you work.
Most civilians in the US have never been directly exposed to any form of Terrorism (not middle eastern people) just people
trying to inflict terror on the masses for , money? religion? power? hatered? are the most common.
That is why the VT event scares people here, for them it's simply uncommon. It scares them, and the media profits from it.

Friends of mine that went to Iraq did not come back the same. Not b/c they were shot, but b/c of what you
see and the way you learn to think in those situations of people trying to kill you and your friends on a daily basis.

If you watch the show Jericho, you'll see how easily people change, adapt, and do things they never thought they would, or could do b/c of the decisions they have to make.

Make no mistake VT was a tragedy, but as Shmotz pointed out, there are more important things happening in the world right NOW ! There are about 192 countries in the world, what do you know about the rest of them right now?

wonder.

look i agree with laxes last post.  Lock this thread if no one else has any input to the topic at hand which is THE VA SHOOTING, and how it was tragic and how they are in our if you have a problem with the way our troops are treat, POST SOMEWHERE ELSE. you guys have made your points about how they are neglected and whatnot, but don't bring it into this topic.  just leave it alone.  This tread is for VT AND THEIR TRAGIC STORY, leave it at that.  So i really think all those post should be delted and as all have you told me before, STAY ON TOPIC, and stop going off on your rants.

This was random violence.

College is a place full of adults not children, and random violence is going to happen everywhere.  If there was a way to protect the college students I'd be all for it.  Same with protecting people in the workforce.  The only thing is that it truly is almost impossible to stop such random hatred.  If you lost friends Lax I'm really sorry to hear about that, and I find the selfless actions of some of the students and faculty to be a real inspiration.

I will say this though, I think the soldiers who put it on the line, deserve plenty of recognition for what they do.  It's a shame that they get so little when they pay the ultimate sacrifice.  But on the flipside, the media coverage over VT was nothing more than newscasters foaming at the bit in excitement at such a horrific event.  I'd rather have very little coverage, than that insulting circus that happens when they cover these tragedies.

Furthermore, let's show some more respect towards eachother,  especially clanmates.  This shit where people insult eachother is gonna stop real fucking quicklike.  Everyone needs to take a step back and watch what the fuck they say to eachother.
