I've done them, and they're fantastic, just watch how much you take and make sure you get them from a reliable source.

mushrooms are my least favorite hallucinogen. I find the trips very random, and hard to control, which leaves me feeling restless and uncomfortable. Manufactured chemicals (lsd, 2ci, 2ce, mdma, etc etc) are man-made and highly-designed, so I find that I after I do them, I understand them, and on future trips, I'm able to take control and explore my mind.
Of course the psychedelic experience is a very wild thing, and with any hallucinogen there runs the risks of mental malfunction. People have been known to develop or enflare a variety of different psychosis. (ocd, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, manidepression)
what are mushrooms like?
there are so many species out there that do so many random things to you. some have extreme closed-eye visuals. some have very scary open eyed visuals where you'll actually see things that your mind tells you arent there, and you wont be able to tell the difference. some just have a body buzz, euphoria, giggly sensation, uncontrollable laughter. some might send you into a seizure (happened to this girl i used to trip with). some might not do anything for you. it can be any degree of combination of this. (once again, very random)
a basic dosage for an experience tripper I'd say would range anywhere from 4 grams to a quarter. Like if i've heard nothing about them, I'll start with that and go from there. For someone new, I'd recommend a half 8th or 2 grams.
its best to eat them on an pretty empty stomach, as theyll digest and be absorbed quicker. you dont have to eat them dry (they taste like bark and sticks). I've cooked them in an omellette before, also in a milk shake. if you eat a large cheesesteak right before you eat the shrooms, you might get a little queesy on the come up.
if you've never tripped before, the tripping time line kinda looks like this:
1. you dose
2. come up period (with mushrooms could be anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours). with most come ups of almost any psychedelic, you might feel nausea, dizziness, sudden temperature changes, muscle tremors, maybe a headache. the worst thing to do when you feel these happening is to worry about them, or think negatively. That will only make them worse. If you're coming up and you feel a little uncomfortable. Change your environment. Environment has alot of pull.
3. you're up. all sickness is gone. you're now playing in the psychedelic world.
4. the peak. this is the most intense part of the trip. each and every trip has a unique and different peak.
5. the come down. with psychedelics, after the peak, there is a slow and steady come down. nothing like any of the harder drugs, mdma cocaine heroin methamphetamines, where your body shakes and you go through withdrawal as all the serotonin and love has been zapped from your body. coming down from the psychedelic experience is quiet and reflectful, and eventually you'll back down to earth. Exhausted from the experience. Mushroom trips I'd say would last 4-5 hours, give or take an hour. (lsd's at least 7-12, longer at high doses)
make sure you stay hydrated, and eat when you are able to. no food and no water will make your day-after a bad one. i used to always get the worst headaches the day after shrooming.
