no it won't. Value knows that people with bad computer wont spent 100-300 to buy a new card then 40 to get hl2. So they will not shut down 1.6 but they will not make any updates to it.

ati already had some video cards that offered free hl2 game, but not anymore. you might find some but there arent many.

That's how I got my HL2 coupon.. I bought a ATI card.. a Radeon 9800XT 256mb card... and they gave me the HL2 coupon inside the box with my cd-key on it...
I also think that eventually 1.6 will be phased out.. I think more people that are serious gamers have what it takes to handle Source and the prices of the 9600XT's will be dropping very soon if not already and that is enough card to handle source.. you'll probably be able to pick up a 9600XT for about $150.00 soon. I say once HL2 is released this will happen. As far as a release date.. I have heard something like middle to end of September.. but my guess would be more like Thanksgiving.. closer to Christmas.. boost the sales of it.. just my opinion though.
And as far as the game itself goes.. I think it's great.. still a bit glitchy but no more glitchy then steam was when it released 1.6.. probably about the same. The game rocks.. it's pretty smooth.. and from what I have heard from XGS a HL2 server running CS 2 will probably be cheaper then a 1.6 server because it uses less bandwith because the game runs better with the new HL2 engine in it.. so a better game for less money a month (server wise) is a good thing.

I have CS:S but haven't had good luck playing it, that's why I haven't been in to see pnazz and the boyz. The game crashes my comp all the time and I can't figure out why. I run the stress test fine but then once the I am in the game it freezes and crashes my PC. Not sure if it is the drivers or what. Here is what I have if anyone has any suggestions.
