*sigh* why do I get such grief?
Yes, I am a gravedigger cole, in fact I live in the cemetery I work at, hence I do not need to drive to work. The grocery store is 2 blocks away. I might put 2k miles a year on my blazer so economy really isn't a concern. I use less fuel than someone in a econo box that drives a 50 mile commute. Nighttrain, I would spend far more building a hybrid than I would ever save in fuel. I am a gearhead and enjoy working on my own equipment. Obviously one can't really build up a minivan. But folks that show of their bling bling autos (and I'm not saying anyone here did) and have never turned a wrench on it are posers. My vehicle isn't as nice as it could be because I work on it myself and often don't have the time or parts to get the more cosmetic things fixed. But she has it where it counts, suspension, tires, and drivetrain.
I came into this thread with a joke that cars are for pussies because I drive a 4x4. Where I live a 4x4 is a necessity in winter as our road does not get plowed often and it gets slick. I was fishing to see if anyone else was into trucks. I got 1 comment to the positive even though I think he referred to my GM product as a
ford. Telling me to build a hybrid without knowing my situation here isn't very constructive.
Seriously, did I piss that many people off? Why all the hate? I mean really, how is it such a pos? I can get groceries with it, I get get up the mountains with it hunting, I can get on and off the hill with it in the winter, it can haul a camper or my car trailer, and in the summer I take the top off it and cruise just like the convertables you see. It will start at -20 degrees and run cool even at 110 degrees. Aside from the fact it only gets 11mpg how is it such a pos?
