Yeah my cousin had a 1st gen bronco...they are a little small for my taste like the 1st gen blazer (more like a jeep than a fullsize).  Mine is an 86 Blazer which is 2nd gen (73-90).  I prefer the fullsize trail rigs.  I have a '79 Blazer that is offroad only I am building up with 5" lift, 40" tires, diesel motor, 1 ton drivetrain and lockers.  This one is getting partially restored.  The wife wants to keep the 2" life and 33" tires but it's getting some new body panels and some rust repair, cowl induction hood, lightbar and nerf steps, new all black paint job with ghost flames, and a fresh 350 sbc with 4bbl carb, headers, and dual exhaust with flowmaster 40s.  That's about as bling as we can get here in the boonies.

Towlie, saw your ride...if you need a loan let me know...cause that thing is a piece of shit...and that is coming from a guy who owns a minivan.  So take it to heart.  :-P

Yeah, it may be a PoS, but it gets me where I need to go, esp in snow and/or mud  :-D

It is also a work in progress.  IMO if you didn't build it yourself what is the point?  Time and money are my enemies, not enough of either...but when I am done it will not be a PoS...so stick that in your minivan and drive it to wal-mart  :thebirdman:

MO if you didn't build it yourself what is the point?

The point would be to drive a decent car and stop the humilitation that you are currently putting ourself through.  And my minivan can get me to Wlamart for 1/2 the cost of you PoS.  So if you are gonna build a car...build a fucking hybrid and be smart about it.   :iamwithstupid:

*sigh* why do I get such grief?

Yes, I am a gravedigger cole, in fact I live in the cemetery I work at, hence I do not need to drive to work.  The grocery store is 2 blocks away.  I might put 2k miles a year on my blazer so economy really isn't a concern.  I use less fuel than someone in a econo box that drives a 50 mile commute.  Nighttrain, I would spend far more building a hybrid than I would ever save in fuel.  I am a gearhead and enjoy working on my own equipment.  Obviously one can't really build up a minivan.  But folks that show of their bling bling autos (and I'm not saying anyone here did) and have never turned a wrench on it are posers.  My vehicle isn't as nice as it could be because I work on it myself and often don't have the time or parts to get the more cosmetic things fixed.  But she has it where it counts, suspension, tires, and drivetrain.

I came into this thread with a joke that cars are for pussies because I drive a 4x4.  Where I live a 4x4 is a necessity in winter as our road does not get plowed often and it gets slick.  I was fishing to see if anyone else was into trucks.  I got 1 comment to the positive even though I think he referred to my GM product as a  :puke: ford.  Telling me to build a hybrid without knowing my situation here isn't very constructive.

Seriously, did I piss that many people off?  Why all the hate?  I mean really, how is it such a pos?  I can get groceries with it, I get get up the mountains with it hunting, I can get on and off the hill with it in the winter, it can haul a camper or my car trailer, and in the summer I take the top off it and cruise just like the convertables you see.  It will start at -20 degrees and run cool even at 110 degrees.  Aside from the fact it only gets 11mpg how is it such a pos?
