I have had an HP ZD-8080US for a couple years that I use when out of town working. Last month I started it up and there was a thin red line running from bottom to top of the screen about three-quarters of the way across to the right side of the screen.
Tried new vid drivers but no luck. HP wants $350 bench fee just to look at the damn thing, not counting parts. A new 17 inch screen costs 850 dollars. thats 1200 total if the screen is bad. For that I can get a new lappy, but not as nice.
I was using a 20 inch lcd and bypassing the lappys built in one. The line doesnt transfer to the other display. Any ideas?
Laptop specs: 3.4 Intel Pentium D 2 gigs of ddr2 ATI X600 256mb vid card (not integrated) 100GB HD 17inch display XP-MCE
