I want an external drive to use solely for backups.
I've found these two

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148405 - $80 after discounts
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136280 - $50 after discounts (I already have an external enclosure)

Suggestions?

I'm confused. The Seagate is the a regular sized drive, but the WD is a laptop drive. Do you want something tiny or do you want capacity?

Well, the thing is I have an external enclosure for a laptop SATA drive, so it's essentially cheaper than buying an external regular sized drive + enclosure.

I don't like seagate so much, but $30 for that much more space enticed me, although I don't need that much.

I have 2TB filled to the brim, this has taught me that you NEVER have enough space!

your absolutely right Mustard, there is never enough space, I have 3tb drives full and a 500gb full as well. Guess it is time to buy a few 2 tb drives.

The thing is I only need to backup my user files. My games and all the other shit that's filling my ~2.5TB of storage is all replaceable.

Anyway, I bought the laptop drive, but at midnight a slower 500GB western digital laptop drive went on sale for $5 more, so I canceled the first order and got that, since storage is more important than speed in a backup drive.
