There's this plugin that's been floating around for a bit that lets us have custom achievements on our server. I thought it might be a good thing to toss on, as it might make people want to come back more, since they have achievements that they can only get on our server. :P It also has a nifty little web interface we can use.

Anyway, to make this work, we need ideas for achievements. So, if you have any suggestions, post them here. Once we get enough, I'll see about tossing it on the server.

I'm really a big fan of Smurfette killing achievments. I want one for backstabbing her 8 times in one game. We'll call it "I made her blue ass turn red!"

I updated to the beta version. MANY MORE achievement options, and as you can see, it's a lot easier for me to show you what can be in an achievement.

Rawr. I can't say build "any building". Again, maybe when this version is out of beta, that'll be an option, but it isn't right now.

Also, it looks like this newer version doesn't have "Kill someone with XXXXX in their name", so I can't do the "Kill 500 TE members" yet. :-(


For your fire one, I'm gonna have to cheat a little. I cant' say "died by fire", but I can check if the attacker was a pyro, and you were on fire when you died. This'll also count if the pryo shotgunned you, but whatever! :P

These are just ideas, they can always be tweaked since I don't know all the rules you have to work with. We can change the N-G one to Sentries, would fit better that way anyways.

Achievement: Pokemon Rancher
Goal: Kill one of each class in one life.
Notes: Gotta catch 'em all

Achievement: F&@*'n LUCKY AS*HOLE!
Goal: Get a hat

For the TE one, couldn't we just add each TE member's steam id? It'd take a while but would work yes?

There can only be 5 parts to an achievement, so we can't do "kill every class".

Can't catch when someone gets a hat.

Again, since there's only 5 parts, we'd only be able to check 5 people.

Yes, we can easily modify that achievement. For now, I'll check it once a week.

Our medic system is pretty shitty. At least it's not a shitty as your guys'. At least with you guys if you've got insureance you get good care from well paid doctors. Here we've got shitty paid doctors, so it's hard to get GOOD care.

Shit, once I finish my Paramedic training here in New York, I'm going to challenge the Ontario Primary Care Paramedic exam. In New York, Paramedic is the highest level of care prehospitally. In Ontario, its the LOWEST. And that is all I need to say about the difference between our healthcare systems.

I don't mean to throw a monkey wrench in the works here.  These are all awesome ideas and I think we should definitely use them, however...they seem much more appropriate for the fun server!  We have discussed having a fun night and I think some of these things would be awesome to do on there.  Just saying.

I disagree. These don't change the the game at all, as would other things we would have enabled during a "fun night" would do.

Also, are you saying people should only be able to have a chance at the custom achievements one night a week?

I'm saying I think that we should discuss it at a meeting before just a few ppl go and start adding shit to the server.  Give everyone a chance to ask questions and express opinions before you start adding shit to a server that is for all of us.  We have had this issue before where just a few ppl want something done and they jump in and do it before consulting with everyone.  It needs to be discussed at the next meeting - plain and simple.  That is all I'm saying.  I never said I was totally opposed to it, but I want more questions answered before I make a final decision.  And I think it is only fair to allow others the same respect!

Yeah take everything off that you have added Crazy.  Put it back to the way it was.  If it ain't broke don't fix it they say.  When everyone comes to the meeting then it can be discussed.  I don't need or want to get in the middle of this.

I don't see the problem with tring it out before consulting really. If it changed game play I could see the issue. I understand the respect thing, but if we do it now people will have a better idea of what they think about it when they come to the next meeting, instead of waiting till the meeting after.

I don't want you all to think I am implying or trying to start a fight.  I just would like some more info on the things.  Personally, I do think they sound really cool.  Trying it out for a bit is fine as well.  I am only inquiring of what is going on cause I have been away with family things and getting back on and playing and seeing all this new shit confuses me.  I just would like the opportunity to discuss the things being added to the server is all.  Not a big deal as you all are implying I am saying.  If it is that big of a deal, just forget I said anything about it!

In my opinion anything done to make the server better, that doesn't change gameplay is a good thing. Crazydog has been working hard to get the features on the server that it needs and he's got the knowledge and time to implement things on the fly. I don't see why we need to wait a month to put in things that are beneficial to all, and again, have no bearing on the game. I don't know if you all have noticed, but our server has gotten pretty sickly in recent weeks, Crazydog is the one person who is being proactive in trying to bring it back.

My two cents:

Here's how I think these kinds of things should work:
I feel that any plugin (or any other change for that matter) that anybody wants to have on the server can go up immediately, as long as it does not affect gameplay. If it changes any kind of gameplay, from as little as the damage that the syringe gone does, to as much as giving the blue team 2x health, speed, and ammo, it falls into the next category.
 
If the plugin does affect gameplay in any way, it should have to wait until the next meeting for it to be brought up.

For non-game changing plugins (or changes), when the first meeting occurs after they are activated, it will be discussed if we want to keep them. If we don't, they'll be removed.

For game-changing plugins, if, after the meeting, it is agreed that the plugin (or change) should be tried out, it should immediately be activated. When the next meeting comes around we'll ask what people think of it. If it'd decided that we don't want it, it will be removed.

My 2 cents:

All these new plugins make me want to play less. The rate plugin keeps asking my wife to change her rate to 15000 when it's already 25000...dumb.

So, are you saying that the achievement plugin makes you want to play less because the rate plug-in is messing up? I can understand the not liking the rate plug-in, as it seems to have done more harm than good; but the achievement plug-in is a totally different thing that isn't shitting in anyones cereal.

Just a note about Smurfette's rate:

When I've run the sm_rates command when she happens to have been in the server, it shows her rate is set to 10000. One of her configs is setting it to that. Check her config.cfg file as well as the autoexec.cfg to make sure it's not changing it to that anywhere.

After playing with me for a while you'll understand how much I despise the huntsman so, once I've been around for a while, I think Dominating me with a huntsman while I'm a sniper would be a good one.

Little update:
The plugin was taken out of Beta, and because of that, all the achievements had to be reset ( :crybaby: ).

But it also means there's a bunch of new options for achievements! I've updated the link in the first post to show the new options you can use!
