TF2 Stats have been reset as of 8-7-2009 at 11:30am Central Time
-
Time for me to take the #1 spot... suckers!
-
So does that mean we can finally knock off Video from his #1 spot. I was stuck at #7 so lets see what happens now.
-
As I posted in another thread - I wish you all the best of luck! See you all below the top 10! :-D I will be at #1! :-D
-
Don't worry, I will be back to #1 in no time flat. Headshots FTW!!!
-
Awww shit there goes everyones heads. Dam you Video and you rifle. As smurfette whould say you know where to put it.
-
My money is still on Video. If i had enough time to play as much as I'd like I think I could take second, sadly my Paramedic classes start in three days and my free time has magically evaporated.
-
Hm, Some warning on this would have been nice. Perhaps I missed it??
-
It has been a while ago, but we discussed this back a few months ago. We agreed that since Video refuses to give up the number 1 spot (lol) we should reset the stats every so often, to give some of the new regulars a chance to get at least the other top 9! :-D
-
I still see a repeat. With Video in #1 spot, Smurfette at #2. Which only leaves 8 spots for us regulars. I still plan on making it to the top 10.
-
You guys are lucky I haven't been playing lately. :flamed:
-
Ya that would take one of the top 10 spots.
-
I like the stat reset...I get to see myself go up a couple hundred ranks in a few games...it validates my epeen and makes me feel like I'm a good player :-D
-
I am just throwing this out there, but I was thinking we should setup a regular schedule for reseting the stats. For instance, say we run the stats from September 1st to October 1st and then reset them. And then annouce like a "winners" page for the top 10 or 20 or whatever. For fun. Just an idea. Let me know what you guys think about this.

Actually, this has been discussed with a decision of doing it once a month. We've just been dealing with other stuff lately so it's fallen by the wayside. I think resetting once a month fosters healthy competition and activity on the server.

I like that idea too. Have you debated on resetting stats quarterly (as they group the stats on HLStatsX) rather than monthly? Just my personal opinion, but I feel like quarterly gives more time to really fight out some of the close ranks and get others who are trying to jump up the list some time to work at it. I know that probably mostly benefits those that have the same playing pattern as me (averaging 5-10 hours/week, on and off), but I feel like that's your biggest crowd (but correct me if I'm wrong).
I guess it depends on how many regulars you have and the frequency of how often those regulars are playing per week. If a majority are playing a ton, then monthly is probably better. Are there any kind of metrics you guys can pull on that kind of data (how many players play at different time intervals)? For example, how many play 1-2 hours/week, 2-5 hours, 5-10, 10-15, 15-25, and so on (on whatever intervals make sense).
-
The problem is those in the top 5 are usually playing so much that after a month it's next to impossible for them to be caught.

While I agree that the top 5 log a lot of hours, and thus get a lot of points, the skew in points based on the class you play can also affect your rank.
I'll never be able to catch Video as a sniper when I'm playing medic...
He gets 1 point per headshot, while I get 5 points per ubercharge.
Hmmm...I do get 4 points per kill assist as a medic, maybe I should just be healing him while building my ubercharge - the rest of the team is just going to have to find some med packs...

Sounds like something a stats whore would say
