Post by: V.I.P. on April 30, 2009, 08:35:55 PM
So I'm gonna be building a new system.  My check was for 460...but I can go a little over.

That memory will not work in that mobo.  Also that brand of mobo is a piece of shit.  Finally friends don't let friends buy AMD or ATI.

AMD+ATI= The Devils work

Also, you don't need liquid cooling unless your looking for complications or overclocking...and if you buy AMD your gonna need it  :-D

I'm going AMD because that Tri-Core is the best money for performance right now...and you can't argue that.  I'm getting an AM3 board so when they come out with amazing quad cores with 22nm structure I can do that.  I'm not completely against getting the cheapest i7... I just wanted to try out the triple core.

Every review I've read on those Giga-byte boards have been amazing...with good OC results.  I plan on overclocking, which is another reason I want the tri core.  It OC's like a beast and it's only 140 bucks if i mess it up.

You guys may say ASUS...but I've only had problems with the Asus boards I've had.  I've RMA'd one of them 3 times and the backup computer's LAN has never worked.

I'm not a big fan of Asus boards either, they're generally crap. I still prefer Intel over AMD, because they have much better performance and you can get great deals on 3.0Ghz Duo cores right now, but if your going for something thats coming out in the future I can see where your going. There really isn't a need to have a quad core in your system (they're not supported in most games).

Go Intel cpu, Evga mobo and vid card. Your budget should be able to do that +/- $100 clams or so..Dont believe all the AMD hype. Most of the stuff you may read is hype because the reviewer usually gets the stuff for free. I've had pretty much zero problems from my set up. Avoid water cooling. If you are going to game, it's useless. Not to mention worring about leaving your rig unattended + leak = big $ problems.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this thread because I'm getting the Phenom II X3.  If anything I'd get the cheapest i7...I'm not spending 150+ on an intel C2D.

Video, why won't that ram work in the motherboard?  They're both DDR3

Well, I just can't justify something that won't give me a better, if any performance increase and pay more money for it.  On top of that, the intel mobos are  generally higher in price as well.

Yeah, Intel MB's tend to be a bit more pricey...whats the most important is what video card your running for gaming anyway...speaking of which, what will that be? I wanna see you play some more W@W with us, so I have ulterier motives LOL

That memory is triple channel which means made for the i7.  You need dual channel.  Triple channel will have 3, 6, or 9 slots on the mobo.

k thanx video

Smurf, I'm gonna use my 8800gt until the prices of the higher cards come down OR until I find it worthwhile to upgrade.  I think the 8800gt will play everything I want to at this point.

The 8800 is more than sufficent for any game out right now.  :notworthy:
