Dying to try out the new Pyro but can't touch TF2 for another 5 days due to house (1 bedroom apartment, rather :headbang:) guests so have to live vicariously...
So how do you guys like the new Pyro?
-
I adore the push thing.
-
whats the push thing?
-
The new weapons are great and the air blast is awesome to reflect projectiles. I am about 250K away from the last of the 38 pyro achievements. The instant kill from the taunt is great too.
-
Pyro has a cool little Dragonball Z Kamehameha thing going on with his kill taunt. Pretty sweet.
-
These weapons, unlike the Medic ones, are ones I will probably switch to strategically more.
Stubborn engineer or sniper? Grab the flare gun and distract them from long distance!
If you don't have a situation like this, the shotgun is much better.
Camping, like I do on 2fort? Grab the backburner, and kill em quickly when you get behind them!
If you know you are going to be attacking more than defending, grab the flamethrower. It's much easier to survive with the push thingy.
The Axtinguisher is the only one I would always have out, since I usually set people on fire before I axe them anyway, and it's really annoying axing a soldier on fire four times and not having him die.
-
DBZ? I'm ashammed you don't know the REAL referance! Come on people it's totally Ryu and Ken's Hydoken blast! Look at the movements!
-
GFH, when I showed it to my brother he said "Wait - you can do a Kamehameha?"
-
Actually it's both. Sure he says Hydoken but the movement and result is the same for both...just different channeling of chi with dofferent words...or something like that.
-
same movements different people dbz hands are closer to gether to start depending on power of blast atleast ken and ryu are farther apart but the best part it coveres alot of generations older people will relate it with street fighter younger people will relate it more with dbz

This speaks for exactly how I feel
Valve are going to have to seriously re-think the way they are bringing out these updates for the classes. I was all for one or two at a time, spread out the content and make the replay value stretch out along with it. But with the first update of an offensive class, I feel now they have to throw them all in at once.
I had another draft written up with my opinions on the pyro weapons, but I have just come from the worst hour of TF2 I’ve ever played. As I have stated scout is my favourite class, but with these updates, no matter what situation I have found myself in, I am now completely useless against a pyro. With 225 health and the “fixed” rego issue and the damage falloff being altered, I am always dead within a good couple of seconds. In situations before the updates If a health pack was around I could get myself out of trouble but now It is just pushing away the inevitable. Some of you may argue that this is “how it is meant to be” but I urge you to walk a mile in my running shoes and see exactly what I mean.
I have watched pyros take down a heavy and his medic time after time. No not a rare thing but to see it constantly? I’ve seen now super buff 225hp pyros take down level three sentries and their engineer. I haven’t bothered trying to be a spy recently because of the pyromania going on, but I doubt it is a pleasant experience either. Medic on a public server? forget it.
What is annoying me the most is that it has taken an essential part of the game and practically thrown it out the window: Class balance. No longer is there pros and cons that can be properly exploited. Right now you have a super class, able to take down everyone, and not just when used by the right person.
Something needs to be done and fast, or I may be having a vacation from TF2.

So as it would seem here that the new updates to the pyro are not exactly favorable from a game play point of view? Are the new wepons avalialbe as a seperate load out that can be chosen indepently of on another?, or is this just a new wepon set that is automaticly assigned?.....forgive me I've been absent for quite some time, and the dog ate my homework!!!.....

The compression blast is for the regular flamethrower, and the rest are unlockable.
