So while sitting around at 2:38am I had an idea for a website.
What if I created a site entirely based around Team Fortress 2 screenshots?
Because the game is SO random, there will never be two screenshots that are the same (unless of course they are set up that way.).
Because of that, there needs to be a place that will catalog tons and tons of them, which is what I think I would be willing to do.
Here's the ideas I have so far:
- Of course, you can submit your TF2 screenshots
- Each user (optional registration) can have their own gallery to show off their screenshots
- Each SS will be able to be rated and commented on
- You can tag your ss so they can be sorted by class, map, maybe even team
- Many different catagories: Deathcam, Normal (Firstperson) SS, Garry's Mod SS, Spectator SS, etc.
- (Monthly?) Contests for Funniest SS/Most Unlikely SS/other catagories
- If I somehow gather donations/ad revenue, I could give away games on Steam if you won the contests mentioned above
Let me know what you guys think. This might be a nice project for me to work on over the summer.
Also, if you have any ideas, general or for contest themes or whatever, post them! :P
Edit: Here's a quick mock up I made. It's not really function based, just a place to start at. Ideas?

That sounds pretty good to me. I'm pretty good with PHP, JavaScript, and all those programming languages. Let me know if you want some help.

Sounds fun, and I don't think it would be that hard to manage. There are plenty of php/LAMP photo galleries out there that may do what you need already.( I've used coppermine for mine, but its far from perfect), you could let people upload there own, rate them, and sort them by rating, etc.
Need a place to try this out? I've got a godaddy hosting account that's doing NOTHING right now...

I just put $5 into my $0.01/gB host, so I'll be using that a while.
Thanks, though.
