Well, it's a good thing I have new PC components on the way.....my laptop just took a shit. I push the power button and nothing. I removed the battery and tried on AC only then re-inserted the battery and tryed with and without AC power. I hope it's just the power button beacause, although I'm building a new rig in a couple days, I wanted to keep this one for the wife. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Smurf

OK, so I took it to my friends house so we could troubleshoot it collectively, and it just turns back on...maybe its my outlet? Maybe it's a problem thats still there but waiting to attack again...thank God I'm getting new shit.

if its one of the blue latitudes there was a known bad solder for power on the mobo.
Dell is aware of it and does the repair for free.
Is it one of the big blue and grey mama-jammas?

No ,it's a compaq (actually HP under compaq name) Presario V2000.

might be a similar issue. If there was a manufacturing issue with how the power is soldered to the mobo, it's a manufacturing defect - read: must be fixed regardless of warrantee for free.
If it's an older model, its worth calling on if it continues being a problem.

It's working fine right now....but I will definately look and see if there are any problems with this particular model.
