Title: Virtual Stock Exchange
Post by: V.I.P. on January 28, 2008, 04:39:56 PM
Pretty much as subject says.  There is a site www.virtualstockexchange.com that lets you manage stocks with virtual money.  It involves no real money.  Our Gov. and Politics class is in a competition to see who can make the most during the next 3 months.

So, we started today and it's really interesting to see how well you can do in it.  If any of you guys wanna check it out we might be able to start a TE challenge in there.  You can sell/buy stocks between 8:30 and 4:30.

We started with 100,000 and i've already made 3,000+ =)

VIP,

there is another site we use called marketocracy.com. This site allows you to create your own mutual fund. The greatest thing about this site is that its a real investment firm, and the hire the person with the best 5 year performance. If you need any help with your game let me know. This is what I do for a living.

So far i'm leading the whole class including the teacher.  i have some Lincoln National Corp, Sunoco, AMD, Nvidia, and Halliburton stock.  The first two are ones i have actual stock in.  I grossed a 3,000 profit in my first day =)  Got any tips of what to do with that now?

AMD is a good buy,

I like alot of financials right now, my favs are KEY, ABC, MER, MS, GS, TROW, ETFC. To name a few.  I would also look at Apple at its price as well as diversifing with some Health care and Consumer Staples, possible some retail if you want to take a chance at the economy coming back with the fed's rebate package.

I made another 3,000 today and all my stocks are in the positive on my school network.  I'm experimenting with our game to see what i should get in for my class.  Looks like I would buy some MER, ETFC, and TROW if i could sell something else.  I'm definitely gonna keep my SUN and LNC because they are my big money makers.  Scott is a friend from school who sometimes plays on our servers so he joined the game if you were wondering who he was.
