Thats right I am trying to make plans to host a CS Lan Party 20 minuts north of cincinnati. And it was kinda Leets idea but i would like to get a general idea of how many would attend. it will be either earily march or mid march. it would take place friday saturday and sunday. and if you want to stay sunday and leave monday you can. For those who would attend i would ask that they let me know way in advance. reserve space while available. To help with the funding of this party i was going to ask that for each person that attends pays 30 dollars. to cover food booze and whatever else to make this happen. i am not looking to make a profit but to only meet the members of TE and friends. So if you are interested in coming to Lan Bake 2008 please respond to this string with how many people you are bringing. i know alot of carpooling will take place. thanks and hope we have a great turn out.
p.s. when this does happen and we take photos we will put captions on it so people will know who showed up unlike that last party. lol

Just FYI barrel lives about two streets up in the same town. He is a good friend of mine and we discussed this idea today and thought it might be nice to have a LAN out this way a little. We are looking into a couple local LAN centers (yes, Indiana does have them :thebirdman:) and are tossing around some ideas so if you have any let us know.

Cinci isn't very far from me at all. If were to take place there and I had enough notice I'm sure I could make it. I bet I could get tritt88 to come with me too, as he lives with me and ash. I would love to make it to a TE lan cause I haven't been able to yet.

I do not have any extra systems so you must bring your complete systems. if this goes good maybe in the future i will have it so you all can just bring yourselfs. but as of right now i can not accomodate systems so please bring your complete systems.

well i have some updated news for you all.
the lan party will no longer be in my house due to size of reservations that we have recieved so now i have made a deal with one of our local bars to rent there huge party room for the entire weekend. we will have our own personal waitress that will bring us drinks all night. sort of called in a favor for this to happen so now the more the marryer we can support upto fifty people.
so we are going to have a great time. so let me know if your comming and how many people you are going to bring with you.

Makw sure that room that we are getting has multiple circuits for power or else we will be hurting and blowing breakers left and right. I am working on creating 1 server and seeing if I can get a second one too.
Also what is the internet connection like in that place or do they not have one? I think a LAN Party definately needs a Internet connection.

well unfortunetly we do not have any real good high speed in this area. the only is 3m down and 768k up so it will probably have to run as a private lan games. so if you can set the server up with that it would be awesome. but i will check to see if they have internet connection there.

well i am glad to see that you addicted and captain 24 are coming. this is going to be fun but as far as the midgett strippers go. well hitman smurf is short so i will have him give you a dance. :booty:

Well I can play live on it but it has to be a REAL game disc and not a burnt one. I have no real game discs except rockband. If you have a gamertag with live then that would be fine as long as you have a real game to play on live. just fyi

Your two hosts lick my barrell and hitman smurf have decided that whatever money is left over from the lan party from the 30 dollar a person entrance fee, after we have paid for the building we rented, the tv we rented, dinners we buy. well what is left over will be donated back to The Elders clan to get the servers put on the new connection. so this is sort of a fundraiser for The Elders. and questions just let me or hitman smuf know.

well the hours of the lan party will go as followed friday and saturday available play time is 10am till 3am... if we want to stay later that is fine but no consumption of alcohol is allowed after 3am
sunday we have the place from 10am till midnight
also very important.
THIS PLACE HAS NO CREDIT CARD MACHINE. YOU HAVE TO PAY CASH FOR YOUR DRINKS. NO TABS
again we are providing dinner all three nights. but breakfast and lunch is on yourself. and you should treat your host also lol just kidding. but keep in mind that the place we are playing has its own kitchen and i am going to attach their menu to this post.
this place has an alarm system and camera system setup for security so and its in a small town. so at night its up to you to do with your system as you please. if you want to take everything with you thats fine if you want to leave it. then its fine. or you can leave everything but your cpu and take that.
i have confirmed that minors that will attend will be marked on their hand an X stating they cant be served alcohol but minors can attend.

Also who else can provide switches for the party? I am going to be buying 1 switch that we will use for the main core of the network, but I am not able to provide enough ports for everyone.
The main core switch will be a 16 port Gigabit switch.
The number of ports that I will be using on the core switch is 6 so we will have 10 uplink ports for more switches.

I know it hasnt been officially anounced yet, but if we get a couple more things together, we will be giving away a nice PC via raffle. I think the only thing left to find is a socket 775 Intel processor, and we are good to go. Chances should be in the area of 5-10 dollars each with 100% of the procedes going back to the clan. Several of us have donated the parts. I know the parts I will donate are less than a year old.

I wouldn't worry about if you were a member or not. Barrell posted that there are going to be about 45 people there, of that I'm sure that not more than half of them are not TE members. Hell you may even go home with a new computer.

you are more than welcome to come and bring friends just let me know ahead of time so i can make arrangements on ports and food. it cost 30 dollars a person for all three days or 15 dollars a day per person. but i will be providing the dinner for all three nights. check the other threads for hotel arrangements if you need a hotel. i listed some cheap hotels in another thread.

Did I read this correctly? No internet connection at all? Don't you need be online to be connected to steam and vent and all that shit?

We have servers for all that and you can run steam in offline mode.

Be sure to go under Account and UNCHECK the box that says "Don't save credentials on this computer." in steam.. otherwise offline mode won't work. I'm sure someone will have this problem.

no... video has built servers to run the games on a private lan. if you look at server screen it will say lan..

well i have not changed anything on my steam and i went and checked it out. it was not checked by default. but still anyone coming to the lan should still check it just to be on the safe side.

well murphys law just took place.... what can go wrong will go wrong. and it did three days before the lan my power supply went out on my system. i have another coming wont be here till friday. so you wont see me gaming but i will still be on the forums. cause i have another computer that i can use to browse the net. just not good enough to game with. so i will see you all at the lan party and we will have a blast.

Well it is 3:58am Central Time and I have the truck all packed except for my suitcase. Just waiting for the last load in the dryer to finish and then I am taking off to head down the road. I am so pumped about this LAN and can't wait to meet everyone in person. I will keep you posted on my progress as I can plug my cell phone into my laptop and get internet connection so I will not go crazy without being able to check the board. I will check it out at every stop which should be few and far between, but I have breakfast, lunch and maybe dinner on the road planned for today.

well since i cant play games right now i have been watching the weather channels and local weather reports... i have been on all sites and i am sad to report that somebody hates me...
friday snow starting around noon mixing to rain then at night back to snow.
saturday morning is snow dieing off in the evening.
sunday clear. the snow is coming from the west and the rain is coming from the south. so if your traveling in from the east you should be fine and just coming into it. now most of you are staying at comfort inn in batesville and your only two minutes up the road so dont worry you will be fine. also the ones at my house i am two minutes walking time so we are fine. i dont foresee it being a blizzard they are saying the storm if accumulates which it probably will maybe see 3 - 4 inches so not bad. watching the weather i laugh cause after this weekend it get up in the fifties in tempurature its like it is going to do this just cause of the lan party. so make sure you take the precautions that you need to take.. and holy shit i hope your parents let you come. if you want a note from me for your daddy saying i will babysit you the whole time and keep you safe i will.
also dont forget this is daylight saving time jump this weekend. so saturday night sunday morning at 2am you move your clocks forward one hour to 3am... any questions or concerns i will be checking this board off and on all day but i do have alot to do to get this place ready for the lan party and get my house ready for guests. so if you need to call my cell you all attending the party got a pm here on the forums with my cell phone number. thanks and i hope to meet everyone tommorrow.

Well I arrived safely and never had time at any stop to get online. I am using wireless at Smurfs' house right now cause I needed my forum fix. We have everything 95% setup and have a couple finishing touches to do in the morning.
Holy Shit, tell your mom that the guy who drives in that kind of weather everyday cause he lives in Minnesota will pick you up in his expedition that has 4x4 and again keep stating that ice and 5" of snow is nothing to a person from Minnesota.

well we have the lan mostly setup... as it stands video master was the first to arrive. i know others are on thier way now and more in the morning.... i cant wait i am so pumped i cant sleep and it bugs me. so everyone hurry up so we can get this thing started.. and i am sorry that some people could not attend this lan party and i hope when we do another lan party we can get more people to it. judging by this one its going to be huge bash. well safe trip to everyone and i hope to see you all real soon!!!
