Hey Dan,

Are you getting this error in Windows?

Download and install Driver Sweeper (http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1655#download), it's a utility to clean out your video card drivers.

- Before using Driver Sweeper, first use the official uninstaller for your video card drivers.
- Then remove your video card from the Device Manager (this isn't always necessary).
- Whenever prompts come up Windows detecting your video card, ignore/cancel them!
- Reboot into Safe Mode (press F8 before Windows starts booting) and run Driver Sweeper.
- Reboot normally and install latest drivers for your video card (again ignore Windows auto detection).

If you still have problems, download DirectX 9.0c and reinstall it to make sure your DirectX isn't broken.

Go to bios and check pcie or agp settings and make everything is normal in there.
Also try getting new mobo bios if availabe.

Also check this forum, they have a great pool of info on nvidia products.

The 8600GT 512mb in my office pc took a dump today, it was new in october. Have to send it back.

Try this fix first:

Reinstall the latest Direct X version, then reinstall graphics drivers, making sure you remove old ones first.
