What other hobbies and such do you all have?
I am into cars myself. I have a 69 Mustang Coupe and a 2004 Mustang Cobra. Have done extensive work on them and I race them at the track also.
-
Basketball.

Also forgot to mention that I am a geek when it comes to computers. Here are some pictures of my server area in my house. The middle black equipment is my SAN or Storage Area Network which consists of 28 146GB 10K rpm hard drives which is about 4.1TB of raw storage space.

I'm into the big three: old cars, guitars and atv's...
I have a few Fords from the early 1900's oldest being a 1919. My dad got me into this, but my favorites are the Mopars from the late 60's to 71. Right now we are in negotiations for a three car purchase; Two 1967 Plymouth GTX, one being an ultra rare 426 Hemi convertible, the other a 440 powered hard top. Third car is an early 60's Plymouth max wedge convertible.
My second passion is vintage guitars and amps. Im into anything pre-1970 in a Gibson electric, mainly Les Pauls, Firebirds and SG's.. In amps it's all tube powered stuff from Marshall, Vox, Fender and Matchless.
ATV's are something I got into out of necessity. Over the years I have had to use a four-wheeler Yamaha to access some of the locations of our wells since I got tired of our trucks taking a beating. I grew to enjoy it and began to do more riding for fun than work. Just last week we took delivery of a 08 Yamaha Rhino 700 efi..The thing is unstoppable, and I keep looking for excuses to get out of the house and ride it. I also catch myself "pimping it out" by adding aftermarket doo-dads like a winch and stainless skid plates (today)..Next on the list is a bigfoot kit.

Must be nice having money to throw around like that. Us poor folks in the northeast get what we can. I am into CARS and computers. Unfortunately I do not have the money to spend on either right now so just go with what I have.
My 2 current cars are 1994 Taurus SHO and a 1989 Pontiac Trans AM GTA with 90K original miles.
The SHO has alot of MODS and is my everyday driver, the GTA will be getting restored in the next year or 2. Doesn't need much but have to replace things that have rotted or rusted from sitting alot.

I enjoy listening to all types of music, I'll listen to anything at least once - music history is very interesting as well.

I'm a musician when I'm not a gamer. Its a hard double life to live and I find myself getting odd looks when I say I'm going home to play everquest 2 after playing a gig but I wouldn't have it any other way. I play lead guitar on a schecter C-1 and marshall stack, and also saxophone and keyboard when it suits my purpose. I also do vocals.

Other than that I work around the yard and spend waaayyy to much money at home depot..mmmm. home depot!

On the subject of guitars, I got this one yesterday. Gibson Les Paul premium plus with a AAA book-matched flame maple top. Has a '59 neck with 490R and 498T pick ups. A friend of a friend wrecked his dad's truck last weekend and dad decided that junior needed to sell his brand new Paul to pay for the damage. 800 bones and it was all mine.

Some of the stuff I'm working on..
My messy garage. Inside is a 1927 Ford roadster, a 1926 Ford speedster and a 1919 Ford center door coupe. The 1919 is #1 off the production line and the FIRST car (#1 off the line) with an automatic transmission and electric starter, about as rare as they come for old fords. It's being restored for the second time, my dad restored it in 1980 when he got it from the original owner. The 27 is fully operational and can reach speeds up to 70 mph, but not with me in the damn thing! Speedster is an old race car from that era, and has been waiting for the 1919 to be finished.
The green thing is a 2008 Yamaha Rhino 700 efi. Lots of fun in the mud!

my parents got me a guitar like 4 years ago for graduation(also cause i had knee surgery and was layed up for 6 weeks), never really learned anything. Pulled it out this summer and cant seems to figure anything out, maybe cause the book i got to teach me plays hot cross buns and a bunch of bs. I'd be much more interested in learning if they made books with cool music, plus my big ass fingers cant seem to do the trick
-

-
lax you find the tabs (retarded version of written music for guitarists) to any song you want online
also if you want something more instructional youtube has a lot of how-to guitar videos posted
-
:iamwithstupid:
I'm sure if you went to the Pied Piper, Mac and Daves (both in H-town) or Route 60 Music (beside Lady Godivas exotic showbar in Barboursville) one could find some video instruction. I get the video lessons from Guitar Player magazine at the grocery store too.
An interesting note about Godivas: It used to be one kick ass rock and roll hang out called the Paladium, and before that, Grumpys. I have did sound/lights for Foghat, Molly Hatchet, Peter Criss and Grand Funk Rail Road in that building. I also did the same at the old Coyotes across from the BSS arena with Quiet Riot, Jackal and the P-Funk Allstars.
-
Hahaha, yea i've visited lady godivas a couple times. I've got a couple firends in h-town who said they'd help me out a bit, and you-tube has got a couple pretty good videos. Did you grow up in WV or have you just lived there for a while?
-
Pretty much all my life. When I got out of HS in 1987, I went to Florida a couple years but came home. Even though this place is boring, everywhere I have been, the people are not like the ones from here. If my car broke down in Florida, I'd either have to walk to get help or just sit and wait hoping no one decided to rob me or worse. Here, half a dozen stop to help and most wouldnt dream of doing anything else. Maybe thats because we are all related?
I used to hang out in huntington back in the day. The 1896 and double dribble were a couple of my haunts. The DD got tore down when the new staduim was built. I once got arrested for petting a police dog and spent the night in cabell co hilton..My fondest memory of that besides the cavity search was eating my rice crispies in the morning and some guy was five feet away taking a shit..
:-D
-
hahaha, yea i hear ya, i spent a night at cabell after my boy got pulled over and found coke in the truck....kicker is i've never touched coke in my life and have no plans on it either. I must be meeting the wrong people because the people i meet around town are jackasses who think there shit dont stink...then again i ran outta gas once coming back from mo-town and some dude with no hands only little stubs stopped and towed my car(with a rope) to the nearest gas station...i've gotta say most people woulda been put off by the way the dude looked but he was nice as hell and asked for nothing in return
-
Tis so true. After living in the country in MI and now living in West Palm, things are definetly different. There are some nice people down here but they are mixed in with the ones who will cut you, no questions asked.
-
Skateboarding...music and technology. That's about it.
-
whitewater kayaking, p-ball, hookah master here.

Another ax to grind:
Got this one today, it's a 1998 Gibson SG-X. Only produced from 98 to 99 so it's kinda scarce. Has a single 500T pick-up with coil tap and 24 awesome frets! I was looking for a "normal" type SG like Angus Young would play, but stumbled on to this rare bird instead. Plugged it into an old Marshall combo the store had, one 'E' chord later and I was hooked. My daughter named her "Chocolate Thunder"... :-D

Got this one today, another 1998 Gibson SG. It had a 'Pillsbury Dough boy" sticker just behind the bridge which was hell to remove. Took it all apart and spent an hour or so with a tooth brush scrubbing and cleaning this neglected girl. I was rewarded for my efforts because she fired right up and sounds just like it should.

I'm 5'8" 155...thats allright lax, everyone loves the fat man :-D
-
L33t, that faded SG is nice!
Thanks!
It's not a faded one. They just started making the faded series. This one is a 1998 in Ferrari red. The difference being the faded SG are made from laminate wood. This one is not, also the faded series are not really painted, it's more of a stain. Mine has a nitro-cellulose finish like one would find on a Les Paul.
-
