Title: Boot problems
Post by: LaxMan on August 16, 2007, 07:50:56 PM
I was running XP Pro on my first harddrive, and red hat 8? 8.1? i dunno, it was a newer version. Anyways i had LILO as the boot loader. Well somewhere the past month or so something went wrong, and when i try and boot all that displays on the screen is "LI". I've tried to boot off a boot floppy, but all i get on boot is Disk I/O Error. I dont have a XP installation CD to get to recovery console either. What should i do? i'm planning on formating the disk with linux anyways, and sooner or later upgrade everything to vista, but i've got a couple weeks before i get that done. What can i do to fix this......and boot to windows?

The best thing you can do for a boot error is to look at your bios, if you can get to them. Once in BIOS change your boot settings. If you have lets say, a WIN 98SE floppy, you can format partitian. I'm sure you can get it from there.
