Title: CS 1.6
Post by: V.I.P. on June 25, 2007, 01:26:11 PM
Any of you guys sitll play it?  I'm thinking of buying it from steam since it's only 10$.  Hopefully it will work on my work computer since Source is too advanced for it.

On that note, do we still have a server for 1.6?  I figured since i'm getting more serious about playing i should know how it has evolved.  Anywayz, ty plz post reply!

LOL.........hahha... You're going backwards.... :-D

The week after you buy it they will stop all Official support for it... hahaha
I wouldn't pay $1 for it.

If you have the cash go for it, if your thinking bout being more "serious" or competitive play than you should definitely get it. On another note about "serious" play hit up #sourcescrim and ask to ring, you learn  more in a day of good scrims then you will ever learn in a pub.

VIP, you are (imo) an awesome source player. Why destroy something I'm sure you have worked hard at?

1.6 has a few things in common with source. For instance your controls are pretty much the same, the objectives are same.Thats where it pretty much ends...I played 1.6 for several years. If you never played it, consider it a step back and it will ruin your game play in source. The way the game runs, hit prediction etc..Save your money and upgrade the pc.

BTW, whats your specs? Maybe something easy or inexpensive can be done to help?

Thanx for replies, but i bought it anyway.  I got the original CS and CS: Condition Zero for $9.95 ( mom's credit card ; ) )  I just wanted it to see how much it has progressed and mostly so i could play on my second computer and at work <-- good reason
I installed and the computer at work plays it smoothly as i hoped.  So, i'm pretty happy with that and the campaign mode in CZ isn't that bad.

Specs for u MR.|337
Proc: AMD X2 4600+
2gb ram
500 gb hard drive
XFX 7600GT

MY computer plays source just fine, but the one at work gets about 9 fps lol

I gotta agree with LEET, Vipperman....Lets explore your system specs and see what is avaliable for a cheap easy upgrade...I know it has become shitty for cutting edge hardware , but Ebay does offer a wide array of cheap "older" hardware. a quick easy way to get to a level of playability that perhaps your not enjoying with your current configuration....I know it's not totally indicative of what to expect with an upgrade of a modern day gamin rig, but I just recently upgraded my 'ol 850MHz platform...with a new MoBo...512MB DDR2100...HDD...and cd-rw....fer $45 bucks.....and a bounus this will run CS 1.6...lol...although I wouldn't do it!!! :blob:

well it seems I'm a day late and a dollar short....wtf you should be workin at work...lol

I try >.> What can i say...Addicted? lol

We have feast or famine...either a ton of people for an hour or no one for 30 mins...kinda weird.  Gotta have something to occupy my wandering mind.
