Title: Should I mod an Xbox 360?
Post by: wonder. on June 04, 2007, 02:40:50 PM
ok, so im fixing a 360 with my friend.  It has one of the 3 lights error, and i saw on youtube how to fix it.  So we are trying that.  The thing is wide open, and the motherboard is not even attachted right now.  Would there be any mods that are easy and cool that you guys would reccomend? I know rage likes this stuff alot, so what do u think?  any suggestions would be helpful.  thanks guys.

I'm guessing you are gonna do that hair dryer trick. Haven't tried it myself cause I haven't had any issues but if you get it working then thats awesome. As for modding it goes, its nice because you can backup game discs and they boot once it has the hacked firmware loaded on the drive. Its fairly easy to do. Heres a link to to a VERY nice tutorial.

Before the spring update, you could play burnt games on Live! with no problems. They ahve started banning now for it and the cat and mouse game has begun. Depending on the drive you have there is a new firmware called ixtreme 1.0 or 1.1 and it mimicks completely the drive speed and has all stealth on the discs and you can play live from a burnt disc. is very good about latest news and how to's and such.

Ripping games can be a little intimidating but its pretty easy.  I get all my SS.bin files form here

If you do decide to do it you will need the right sata chipset on your mobo and a special linux boot cd. ( easily Downloaed)

My advice, read read read. Theres a good bit to it, but its not that bad honestly. I can help if you want, just ask

Good Luck!
