yea they just started that with the new update. So far i have read that its not detecting you firmware, it detecting if you are playing a burnt game cause they are read differently. If you just use the original to play on live you should be ok for now. I was playing halo3 beta off of crackdown (original) last night and am still ok today. I would recomend staying off live with burnt discs.

Also, they are just banning consoles from being on live, not actually your gamertag and live! account. So if I find a game I simply MUST have to play on live! then you can always pick up another 360 core and swap the hdd. Pawn shop had one for sale for 180 the other day.

Just a game of cat and mouse, eventually someone will find out how they are detecting it and maybe released a true "stealth" firmware mod.
