What is the point of Xfire, and should i have it to be a good CSS player?

Xfire has no connection with Source, it is only used as a means of communication, and tells if your friends are playing

Say for instance, you are deep in homework, and are like, wow, Cheech is playing CS:Source at TheElders, i may want to join in, maybe piss  him off a little.....

Or

Cole is playing on Elders right now, free kills!

Also, you can see if they are playing various other games, and you can chat without Alt-Tabing which i find i have to do sometimes in AIM

X fire is just really good with keeping up with friends, as for me, the one in steam doesnt work.

xfire is what steam friends couldnt be.  its awsome program but really buggy right now.  mine keeps booting me off every 15 min or so.
