Title: Some things that might help
Post by: Rocksteady! on October 22, 2005, 05:24:07 PM
Hey guys after hearing a few complaints about lag and stutters blah blah blah I thought I would tell you guys about a cool little program that could help a tad bit. http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=951, just look into and read what it does helped me out a bit. Also if you guys are intrested in some modded drivers for your vid cards check out these sites http://tweaksrus.com/ = What I think are the best modded Nvidia, and http://www.omegadrivers.net/ = Which people have said to be the best modded ATI drivers.
Hope this can help some of you guys out.

Regarding the first link (PIC latency timer), it says:

"AGP video cards DO have PCI Latency timers. PCI Express cards DO NOT have PCI Latency timers."

Does this mean that the latency on a PCI express card cannot be changed, thus the tool will do nothing?  I'm confuseded a bit.

On the other hand, I have an Nvidia 6800 GTO card and was using the previously "latest" driver which was 77.77.  This driver sucked.  I now upgraded to the latest 8x.xx driver and things seem much smoother.  O well...no matter what driver I use I still suck - but at least I don't stutter anymore!

I have a PCI-E card and I still used the program, I never lag or stutter so Im sure it helped a tad bit.  Spikeroo I suggest downloading one of the tweaked drivers from www.tweaksrus.com could help with that stuttering.  Make sure to use this program http://www.drivercleaner.net/ its called driver cleaner pro. What you do it uninstall your old drivers then boot up into safemod and use driver cleaner pro, it cleans out all the junk the previous driver has left behind so that there are no problems when installing the new one's. Make sure to also use the CAB cleaner thats in the tools tab and clean driver.cab. then reboot and install the new drivers.
