Title: Question for you nerds! (COLE)
Post by: Darkensky on September 24, 2005, 12:14:54 PM
This is my cpu specs:

2.43 HyperThread
1.5 GIG RAM
ati 9600

My question is for my bios setup:

Amibios ver 3.31a

In my bios i have a Setup called:  Frquency / Voltage Control

In Frquency / Voltage Control I have these options:

Performace Mode: Fast

Cpu Ratio: Locked

Spread Spetrum: Disabled

Adjust Cpu bus Clock:  200
  DDR clock: 400

Adjust AGP/PCI : 66.66/33.33

CPU Volt: 1.525
AGP Volt: 1.70
DDR Volt: 2.70

That is my settings that i made to the bios.  Does this look correct?  I can adjust the CPU BUS CLOCK up to 400 making my ddr clock 800.  Is this good or bad?

Any help would be great.  Things run okay now but i know things can be better....

Thanks eggheads!~

You should make the appropriate settings as called out by your CPU specifications and your motherboard.  I highly recommend NOT changing the voltage settings or you'll be smelling something funny and your smoke grenades will seem more real than they ever have.

 "Shit man...if you think you need more power than your hardware is spec'd at - buy a new friggin' PC"

Your system will never start up with a 400 mhz FSB. You would need liquid nitrogen to cool the processor for that kind of speed. The most you can do is up the FSB a couple of ticks at a time and monitor the temp and performance. Most of the time you can bump up the lower processors quite a bit as long as you have the proper cooling for it. If you so have a good fan you can up the voltage .01 at a time for the overclocking, but like I said you need to have a good heatsink and fan. I think you could probably get that up to about a 2.8 or higher with the right amount of cooling.

BTW what core do you have in that processor???
