I am looking to replace my crappy $9.99 Big Lots mouse and have come down to 2 options both the same price...the mx 510 which is 800 dpi and the Razer Diamondback which is 1600 dpi...Im leaning toward the Razer but have heard about issues with lag with some high dpi mice. So what should I buy????

no other than the 518.  it is hands down the best out there.  you can change dpi (sensitivity) on the fly.  so you and scope and change the speed you look around at, etc.

518 is 1600 dpi

and it is on the fly adjustable down.  you don't always want or need the 1600 (it makes it wicked sensitive)

and the razor doesn't have as many buttons and doesn't fit in your hand as well provided that you're right handed.  The razor is probably better for a lefty.

Use the MX 510 its what i use and im pretty sure its what widow uses. Its accurate and if u accidently pick it up off that pad like u might do now and not realize(i do it, used to many track bal mice in my life). It will still work plus its not as exspensive as it used to be and its accurate as all hell. I have used it for like 2 yrs now its incredible. Also the button sensitivity is great plus u can use the 2 side buttons for voice one for vent one for in game (which is what i do). Plus it is very comfortable and your hand rests very easy on it. Only down side to it is that you have to clean it but then again u have to clean the top off of every mouse when it gets dirty from oil and greese from food.

I so cant wait till they have self cleaning mice.

My bad its the mx510 thats 800dpi the mx518 is 1600...stupid side by side comparisons and my old age LOL

Looks like Im going with the mx518....for $50 bucks Im not gonna complain considering most other gaming mice Ive come across are like$80-100
Since the 510 is the same price as the 518 I think its pretty much decided...the 518 it is...have a feeling Im going to have a learning curve using in game sensitivity changing to alter how my mouse moves but I bet it will help my play...do those that have one use the sensitivity change feature in game??? if so how do you use it??

i have the 518 and it fucking RULES. you can set the dpi as low as 400, whitch is just way to low. you have to run it across the room just to get the pointer to move 3 pixels. or as high as 1600 dpi which is way to much. you fart and your pointer is halfway to the moon. get it its is the shize monkey!

i use it all the time.  Like i said for awping.  and espically when I play bf2, getting in different vehicles, and using different weapons will change you speed, so i adjust the dpi on the fly to compensate.  In css, i mostly leave it at about 1000 dpi.

dpi refers to dot per inch aka how sensitive/accurate your mouse is. the more dpi the easier it can detect changes. think of it as if it were indivdual beams of light the more there are the easier it is to tell change. like instead of scanning 1 or 2 place an inch it does 1600 so sensitivity is rediculous like your hand throbs it moves lol. All mice are not the same but to me i am just getting into the optical mice.

Before I saw any of the mice you were considering I was going to suggest Razer Dimonback. I've been using one for a few months now and love it.
