friend has a problem. he couldnt connect to steam. i looked up his antivirus and it turns out McFee had a restriction on steam and xfire so i enabled them both. everything was working fine for a day or so then the same thing occurs. i thought the firewall in the antivirus disabled them but when i check everything was correct. im wondering if now Windows blocked those programs somehow. i dont know where to check that though, can anybody help me out?

also, these graphics are shitty. this machine has a SAPPHIRE RADEON 9600 ATLANTIS but my drivers are outdated. cant find where to dl the drivers. its suppose to be a good card, but i dont know much about it. hopefully someone will enlighten me. appreciate it fellas  :downtown:

As for windows blocking it, i do not know any reason why it would. Are you running windows firewall? Recently update NIC Drivers? How about SP2? If you are running windows firewall, go to start then to security center and click on windows firewall. There whould be 3 tabs, general; exceptions; and then advanced. Under exceptions, make sure hl2 is checked for exceptions. I do not have steam under mine or anything like that. I have 3 hl2s tho. Idk if that will help but i tried. second thing is go here for some drivers.

Just choose the card type (ATI, Nvidia) and then your os. Its one file for the both of them and it compatible with all cards by that make. Good Luck!

Also, try this for connection issues.
