If you're unaware of what Steambans is, here's a quick overview:
Steambans.com is a global banlist/watchlist made for the Steam technology from valve.
We have guidelines for all admins under our supervision to follow. All bans that are accepted will enter a database which then is used to protect all servers under our supervision.
Our mission is to eliminate or deteriorate cheaters from wrecking the "straight" players' fun on our protected servers.
Furthermore we want to help admins get better at catching cheaters and help them get respected for more then the power they posses.
We want to get rid of abusive admins because they can pest a server just as much as cheaters can.
We want to create a safe community for people that share our beliefs and mission.
Basically, we now take part in a global ban list that has about 42k banned steam IDs in it. Our bans are not added to the ban list automatically - it's more intensive than that. You need to submit a demo, etc.
You can read more about SteamBans here:

and

You can check if you are banned here (hopefully you're not! :P):

I'm putting this on in hopes it will improve the quality of players on the server. If for some strange reason a bunch of us and our regulars are banned, I'll take it off right away.

This is good news, there needs to be organized things like this to protect servers, admins, and players from known problematic players.
There used to be a server blacklist on tf2stats.net but it was taken down. I'm not sure the whole reason for it, but I think a lot of server admins forced them to stop it.
The blacklist categorized servers that were doing things that some players dislike and also flagged servers as "disagreeable."
Servers that mask their true IP and latency, servers that display a false player count, were the biggest ones - it's something that is not tracked in any way at all otherwise.
Also things like nocrits, no damage spread, class restrictions, 24/7 servers, and others could also be selectively blacklisted at the player's discretion.
And aside from that, some servers were qualitatively flagged as disagreeable by players and could be included in your blacklist.
It was a great service and I wish it still existed.
Anyway, thanks for getting TE into this, it's a real step forward.
(also Taso you're gonna get it man :D)
