Alrighty friends and family I was wonder if you could help me. You see, I have to set my DX Level on 70 because, if it's on 80 or above, I get black screened. It'll go to the loading screen with the two CT's but before I get to the menu to servers and things, it black screens and for a moment, i can scroll up and down the list, but further than that four seconds tops, it freezes me. Sometimes it gives me an error message and most of the time I freeze. Anyone have a solution to my dilemna? I'd appreciate it. Thankz.

Get Mommy and Daddy to buy a new rig. Get one that has Core2 Quad 6600 / 4 gigs of ram / a nvidia 8800/ 700 watt psu / windows vista

If ya cant run with the big dogs, stay on the porch Junior!

Seriously, that rig will run anything and absolutely all high settings on Source.

4 gigs is an overkill, srsly, why does everyone think it's a good idea, it's a waste of cash, buy 4 gigs and keep 2 in the box as spare in case you ever need it, but otherwise it's drawing excess power that is really not needed, also you won't need a 300 dollar 8800, and don't waste your money on an 8600 cause the 7950 is cheaper and faster. Vista is a fair choice, it's been pretty good to everyone i know who has it, if you feel the need, dual boot vista and XP or Linux. And 600 watt PSU(Power Supply Unit if you didn't know what it was) is fine, 700 to keep yourself 100% safe, and if ya wanna go an extra dollar or two, get 2 7950's. If you wanna go for the 8800, get a GTX or GTS, otherwise it's not really too useful.
Cheapest yet, tone down the settings and tweak em to suit you, it's what i used to do on an Integrated(Built in) ATI Radeon 200seriesXPRESS.

I saw it die, i watched it die.

GTS's are worthless with the introduction of the GT.  The GTX is just slightly above the GT.  The ULTRA is still the top dog.  Why would someone buy old technology and get a 7xxx card?  Those are halfway burried and I would love to see you run Crysis in 2560x1600 with a 7xxx card in Vista.  You would have to force the game to play in DX9 and put the setting on LOW and you would still have issues.  No need to get more then a 600W power supply unless you run a 8800 ULTRA card or lots of hard drives.  I have an 850 and I can run 2 of the 8800 ULTRAs with it.
